🥹🌸 And just like that, our girl has headed back to SFA. 🌸🥹
We’re a little sappy over here as we said our see you laters to Katelyn as she heads back to Stephen F. Austin for the fall semester last week.
We have absolutely loved having her at Florals by HC. She’s spent the summer right in the center of our beautiful chaos—flowers everywhere, phones ringing, deliveries going out, last-minute orders coming in, and all the laughter and craziness that comes with life inside a small-town flower shop.
But if you’ve never heard the story of how Katelyn got this job, it’s probably one of my favorite Florals by HC stories.
Word to the wise: Be a Katelyn. 😂
Walk into a business on one of the busiest days of the entire year and tell them you’re looking for a job.
Our conversation that day went something like this:
At first, I thought she had come in to show me an ad.
Then it was, “Ohhhh…are you trying to show me your portfolio?”
And then I looked around at the absolute madness happening in the shop and basically said:
“You know what? Instead of showing me your portfolio, I’m pretty busy today and could use some extra hands. How about you show me what you’ve got? And if you’ve got it…you might actually have a job.”
And she did.
So her job interview pretty much became, “Here. Jump in.” 😂
And Katelyn jumped in.
She worked. She learned. She kept up. She became someone we could count on.
What started as a girl walking through our door looking for a job turned into someone who became part of our little Florals by HC family—and that's the part that makes sending her back to school a little bittersweet.
Katelyn, we are so proud of you. Thank you for spending your summer with us, for working hard, for rolling with the crazy, and for becoming one of our girls. 💕
Go back to SFA, work hard, have fun, learn everything you can, and keep being brave enough to walk through doors—even when the timing seems completely ridiculous.
Because apparently sometimes walking into a flower shop on its busiest day of the year is exactly how you're supposed to find your place. 🌸
To those of you who received arrangements crafted by her, you are blessed.
