I’m embracing Shinrin-yoku medicine. It was well past time to reset my energy and visit the Smoky Mountains. The shocking cold of the mountain stream always reinvigorates me. There something so soothing being under a tree canopy listening to flowing waters.

Understanding the power of Neuroaesthetics includes understanding how important nature is for our mental & physical health. I learned about Shinrin-yoku recently. I fell in love with the Japanese prescription to reduce stress by “Forest Bathing”. It makes so much sense to me, the helping properties of being in the forest. I was delighted to know that doctors would recommend alleviating stress by being surrounded in the elements of nature. I’m delighted to say that my beautiful daughter Luna helped me film this compilation, even though she suffered many mosquito bites! Neuroaesthetics rock! Biophilia rocks! Forest bathing is awesome!

I certainly wear all the hats as an entrepreneur, and website design was one I’ve battled with over the years. But, I’m feeling solid about my new ideas! My focus on Neuroaesthetic design is front and center on my home page now. I learned that most people make a decision in 7 seconds wether or not to invest time into a website and a total of 45 seconds to decide if they want to reach out! That’s not much time to make an impression. I’ve changed my home page to show what my focus is, who I am, and my design work with testimonials. Nature, healing and awareness of our needs as human beings is the new wave of interior design, and I’m thrilled to be at the forefront of it.

Elsie De Wolfe reminds me that I’m an artist first and foremost. I have no choice but to be a business woman. I make art for your life, art you walk into, art you sit at, dine with, play, laugh and cry in. My art is ever unfolding. My art isn’t a single canvas on the wall, it’s the whole shebang. I’m the conductor, the miestro, the mad scientist behind mixing and twirling, coordinating shapes and colors and textures with light and dark, bright and deep. I change your world for decades. Remember this when you ask for my expertise, I contribute to a lineage of bold artists that stand for integrity in their work. You cannot stifle an artist then be surprised you are unhappy with the results. Don’t tell an artist what to do, find the one that feel’s right to you.

The Ijams Fleurish Fashion Show was marvelous! Denia and I had so much fun sitting front row as Kara Hudgens guest. ☺️❤️Due to inclement weather we had to relocate from Ijams Nature Center and go to the fabulous Brookside event center. It was very cool to be at Brookside since I was tier Interim Designer!😍 When I insisted on having a center medallion painted on the floor by a local artist, I never knew that fashion models would be posing there one day! The music was wonderful, Feral Kitty did an epic soundtrack for the show. Every one of the models showed up and showed face! And the designers did a great job of enticing our eyes with couture pieces and upcycled fashion. I want to thank everyone for such a great event. It really was exciting ❤️ I’m proud of Knoxville to put on such fun shows for our community. And even better it supports our nature center! I also want to give a shout out to the marvelous group from the Knoxfill station in South Knoxville. They looked great and I was so excited to see our running US House of Representatives Michaela on the runway!

Interior design is a practice in which science, knowledge, skill, logical thinking, beauty, health and well being come together. It’s a whole process. I like to think of a design as an oil painting. It takes a lot of time to cure, each brush stroke changes the image, colors swirl together to find their place, and each layer creates something more dynamic than before. All of these decisions, foresight, feeling and momentum is a talent to keep going. Remember, interior designers aren’t simply decorating, we are creating a space for you to use for years, decades, even over generations.

My design philosophy focuses heavily on enhancing the built environment at the biochemical level. Every design choice has a physiological impact that can be quantified. I seek to design for flourishment in my clients lives. This means I design for optimization of physiological energy, it’s how we feel physically and mentally. That is achieved through the application of Neuroaesthic design. This is an empowering way of designing, for our health and our future.
