Our calendars now say August!! High Summer has arrived, and thereās still some summer left and the summer heat is still here.
When I think back on my journey to open the doors of my shop, I have to remind myself to go gentle on myself. Dreams take time to manifest themselves, and becoming a mother placed me on a path that would put some of my dreams on my shelf for a little while longer than hoped for. (My youngest was born on the autism spectrum and his journey hasnāt been an easy one for non-autistic people to understand) But mothering is in my core, and my family is everything to me. Itās why Iāve always said that there will be occasional times that I will shutter the shop to spend important moments with my family.
And honestly, itās the time I spend with my family that correlates directly with my shop. Itās about LOVE. Even the name of my business āThe Brick House Affairā speaks to Love. The shop is my passion, and I fill it with things Iām passionate about. Im not just an antique store or a candle shop or a furniture store. The BHA is a shop filled with things I love and that I am passionate about. And I offer interior styling services to help people achieve the home space they love. Thatās the passion, thatās the love affair I have with the items I carry in the store and in my heart when Iām at a clientās home.
As someone who spends gobs of time sourcing - both antique and new - I stay far away from gimmicks and shotty work. I rarely advertise so I want you all to return again and again. Happiness and Love will lead the way.
Thereās still a month of summer left. And I will be introducing some new (personal to me) lines that I love.
