People often ask me why I have chosen this style to decorate in. I am sure all of you have
come across the same thing; there are those that positively love primitive early American antiques and needfuls, and then there are those who just don’t get it and can never understand my absolute passion to get my hands on it. Some of my friends and family tease me, saying, “Your dolls are “ugly” even my own children being afraid of them! I hear, “Why would you spend $250.00 on a stuffed animal?” and that if there was a shortage of kindling, “Your furniture can keep us warm, no problem.”
Despite the teasing and dare I say, ignorance (ha!) I have continued on in my pursuit of all things antique, primitive, farmhouse, early American, vintage and shabby chic. My belief is that this “look” isn't just a style; it's more a lifestyle. It makes me happy and comfortable and fosters a sense of peace and calm and simplicity. What I have tried to do with The Farmhouse Primitives is to share this passion (or obsession) with all of you. It’s funny, my husband was one of “those” who didn’t get it at first and now he is the leader of this business, constantly pushing me to improve the page and the website and buy, buy, buy! (It’s a dream come true!) So, as a result of our combined passion, we offer you a collection of one-of-a-kind home goods and primitives that are meant to make you feel warm and cozy and happy. From mohair artist bears to chippy painted furniture and seasonal handmades, you are sure to find a treasure or two. Some examples of what you will find at The Farmhouse Primitives are: early American goods like tinware, painted bowls, ragdolls, early and painted baskets, a variety of composition dolls as well as vintage shabby chic designs, folk art, primitive birdhouses, primitive handmade dolls from a variety of talented artists (who have become my friends,) antique children and doll chairs with old chippy paint, a Norma Schneeman creation or two, unique vintage toys, a variety of simple goods, perfectly primitive holiday and seasonal gifts, and anything else you can think of that is rusty, folky, distressed, crafty, old country, primitive shabby, early, and an absolute needful! We will be posting new items often so please check back regularly, or better yet, follow us so you will be notified right away. And remember, the items we post are mostly one-of-a-kind, antique, and unique so once it is sold, it is gone. Shipping is not included in the majority of our items, unless otherwise indicated.
