Today I decided to paint over a painting I’ve been working on for at least six months. It wasn’t an easy decision because I had invested so much time and effort into it. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t going where I wanted it to go.

Sometimes life is like that. We invest time, energy, and even our hearts into situations, yet we find ourselves stuck and struggling. At some point, we have to make a decision, and those decisions shape the outcome.

Do we stay where we are, holding on to something that is keeping us from reaching the full potential God has for us? Or do we have the courage to let go and begin again?

Maybe starting over isn’t a sign of failure. Maybe it’s an act of faith—trusting that God can create something better than we imagined.

What do you think?

We are bringing back our community cookouts this summer…with a new twist.

Instead of hosting just a couple cookouts throughout the year, we’re launching a summer long series called “Cookout with Cops”.

Each week we will host a couple of cookouts in parks and neighborhoods throughout Etown in hopes of fostering an opportunity for officers, kids, and adults to connect in an informal setting.

Our first cookout of the summer will be next Thursday, June 4th from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at Haycraft Park.

Free hot dogs, drinks, and snacks will be provided, so come hungry! You might just get a chance to throw a water balloon (or two) at our officers.

The additional dates and locations will be posted next week. If you have questions, you may contact Chris Denham.

think the reason I love painting landscapes is that they take me to a place of peace and imagination. As I paint, I often wonder about the stories these places could tell—the families who may have lived there, the friendships that were formed, the love that was shared, and the faith that carried people through life’s journey.

These quiet scenes remind me that God is present in every season and every generation. Long before we arrived and long after we’re gone, His love remains steadfast.

“May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.” — 2 Thessalonians 3:5

My hope is that this painting invites you to pause, reflect, and remember the enduring love of God that guides us through every path we travel.

Friday Faith Fragments ✨

“Are we there yet?”

I think that question lives quietly in so many of our hearts. We ask it in seasons of waiting, growing, healing, and becoming. Sometimes we look around wondering if the work, the prayers, or the journey are leading anywhere at all.

This painting marks my 50th painting of the year… halfway to my goal of 100. And while part of me wants to rush ahead to the finish line, I’m reminded that God often does His greatest work in the waiting.

Waiting stretches our faith.
Waiting builds endurance.
Waiting teaches us to trust the One who already sees the destination.

“Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
— Psalm 27:14

Maybe today the answer isn’t “we’re there yet.”
Maybe today the gift is simply knowing God is with us on the way. 🤍 👩🏼‍🎨
