What a weekend!
Thank you to the town of Webb Police Dept., Willie Van's excavating, and the Otter Lake Fire Dept.
This Saturday 4th of July my family and I were heading to the Forge Fest to setup when we rounded a corner on rte. 28 and our trucks fuel tank hit the pavement at 60mph!
Thankfully we were able to quickly stop and pulled off into the Kowalik's hotel in Forestport were things got a bit tense for a short bit while we handled the situation and then mellowed out with the nicest group of folks you could ask for!
Without calling anyone out directly and going into all the details, lets just say the police dept. Willie, his family and the fire Dept all stepped up and did the Amerian and neighborly thing to do when you see someone in trouble. On the day it mattered the most. To a family that never asks for help, they just showed up and started doing everything to get us on our way.
They made calls and moved quickly to secure the scene and then drove my children and I up to old forge in a police es**rt along with Willie towing my trailer to the event!
It gets better.... AAA wouldn't even talk to me because of the tank situation so... they handled it and my truck was home before I was! Thank you to Shufelt's Towing!
Honestly, there was sooo much more to say but this isnt the place.
I can't say enough how much this weekend meant to me and my family. Yes, we lost our truck for the time being and a pretty good chunk of change but Aaron can fix it... what we gained was far greater. In an extremly tense situation we found faith in community at a time it was needed most on a day that really helped make it ring true.
In summary, don't be that person who always asks everyone for help, be the person who can and chooses to help others becuase everyone needs a little help once in a while even if they dont know it/want it or want to admit it.
We refused help at every opportunity, just to not burden this group of selfless individuals on a holiday, until... we finally ran out of excuses!
What an emotional rollercoaster.... from Low low to the extreme opposite. The situation converted to the most uplifting experience!
To everyone involved, from the bottom of my heart, we thank you for your time, and selfless service to others. Your actions that day meant more to us than you know!
