A window screen is doing more than keeping bugs out.

Opening your windows instead of relying on the AC starts with having a screen that works, and it can help cut cooling costs by making natural airflow possible again. The right screen also affects how much light and view you get to keep. Some sit flush and stay visible year-round, others retract out of sight when you close the window, letting in noticeably more natural light when they're not in use. Either way, a good screen is what makes fresh air a realistic option instead of a trade-off.
