Happy Makeover Monday!
A favorite segment of my design business are seniors. Perhaps leaving the big house/ going into a condo/ a long care facility. I see the space and measure. I figure out which furniture pieces can fit and work. I work with the client to make sure there will be no surprises upon moving! In this case we moved from the family home into a spacious condo. I had helped furnish the family home so I was super familiar with major furniture/ drapes and accessories!
In this case most of the major furniture pieces had a place. But I decided to re-purpose the drapes. I had had them fabricated for the home about 6 years prior but I knew we could rework them to fit the condo windows! So we did! The dining table and chairs and bookcase units fit in so well and we created a dining area within the space! I made sure my client had a seamless transition to her ‘next chapter’.

Non carpeted flooring is so much cleaner, sophisticated, and allows an area rug to be center stage to the room or space....

Interior Designers don’t advertise on radio. “We have never had a designer advertise with us”…And that started my 100.7 The Bay almost two decade long collaboration.I wasn’t a number. I joined a family. Local Baltimore on air people and staff. Not a multi-national corporation. A small independent radio station that loved classic rock and invested in our community. You made me a celebrity judge at the inaugural Crabcake Festival. I judged your staff Halloween costume contest. You let me voice my own spots. I loved popping in to visit and catch up! Steve Borneman painted the entrance wall red! I was honored to be invited in as part of the team who renovated the studios and hallways. I helped make 100.7 The Bay even better! ‘Rock and Roll is not beige’!
So now the news is out that 100.7 The Bay has been sold to the parent company of K-LOVE - a national conglomerate - and will be turned into a satellite delivered Christian contemporary station just breaks my heart. To all of the staff at 100.7 The Bay - you were small but mighty. I am so humbled to have been a part of your family for almost 20 years. Live and local is a dying breed and I am gutted by the announcement. RIP 100.7 The Bay. You were my people!!

I thought At Home stores all over Maryland bad to shut down because of bankruptcy. Imagine my surprise - Glen Burnie store is open and doing great!! One stop shopping for all of my clients. Worth a drive to Glen Burnie. Clean and exceptional finds!!!!

Happy Makeover Monday!
Someone following Makeover Mondays asked me how my contractor moved the water pipes under the floor in the bathroom renovation we just completed. These water pipes were on an exterior wall so piping them inside the space made sense in the 1930’s to prevent them from freezing in the winter. Technology has come a long way!! After many discussions we agreed that we could drop the pipes under the floor away from the exterior walls. The old radiator was high performance back on the day but multiple coats of paint had decreased its efficiency.
So we went to work!!!
We opened up the floor which allowed the moving and rerouting of the pipes UNDER the floor level but away from the exterior wall. The removal of the painted radiator gave more space for the linen closet and toilet. New super efficient but narrow radiator units allow maximum efficiency in a smaller profile. We are apparently on back order on the unit we selected so it’s on order and coming!!. The new subfloor was leveled for the new marble floor and it laid well and true to level.
That’s how we accomplished this. I hope it answered your questions!
