There is a compromise on the durability of a keen tip and having surgical sharpness. After watching hundreds of people hold a Kirby Knife, I observed that they naturally hold the knife like a pencil, and they tend to mash down on the fragile blade tips. Sure, you get that scalpel precision out of brand X initially, but once that thin fragile tip goes, so goes the rest of the blade.
We're guilty as charged with treating blades the same, which is why on a busy month we can go through several dozen blades. I have used the same Pinnacle blade pictured in the titanium handle to carve wood, cut rawhide, drop it like a boss on the table 😎 tip first, trim 3d prints, cut printer paper 📃 for no reason, and other things. Periodically, I strop the blade against a leather slab with honing compound, and bam, more plastic straws destroyed with razor sharp ease.
