Enjoyed painting during my hosting at the Southern Oregon Guild of Artists and Artisans. Was able to get a good start on two small paintings. Got the hang of setting up my demo space - always a good thing. And I’m looking forward to doing more in the future; with definitely more notice! 😅

A few weeks ago my oldest granddaughter asked me for a couple of sketches. I just found that she took one of them and had it made into a tattoo. I’m so blessed that she wants some of my art to be her own 🥰 The highest compliment!!!!

This week and next we are featuring the 3 Guild Members who are showing their work at our Art in the Vineyard Satellite Gallery at Bridgeview Vineyards later this month. Becca Farmer Art is a painter now based in Merlin, OR who after a recent big move from Arizona, recently found us at the Guild!! She kicked off her Southern Oregon introduction with a solo show at Central Art Gallery in Medford and now displays year round at the Guild in historic Kerby.

Becca previously worked as a gatekeeper and staff aide to three Speakers of House and a House Majority Leader. During her 20-year legislative career, she found solace and respite thru creating art in her spare time. Her love of nature and deep curiosity for the bio-mechanics of living things fascinate her and inspires her art. Painting on the edge of what's visible, Becca creates an atmosphere of growth, spirit, and energy, inspiring hope. She uses dramatic visual experiences of color, contrast, and depth to enhance her imaginative realism.

Becca has demonstrated her artwork at the Herberger Annual Festival of the Arts and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West in Scottsdale, hosted by the Arizona Art Alliance. Her work has also been featured in numerous public and private juried exhibitions throughout the western US. Most recently, Becca's piece "Dancing Poppies" was installed on an electrical box at the corner of 6th & M Streets in Grants Pass, OR as part of a call to artists from the city.

Come see Becca's work at our Summer Exhibit Opening Reception @ Bridgeview Winery on Sunday August 30 from 3-5pm at 4210 Holland Loop Rd. Cave Junction, OR 97523. Enjoy a grouping of images from Becca's paintings (cropped for social media) that will be on display!

I’m always thrilled with an opportunity to exhibit my large wall art. Now featured at the Southern Oregon Guild of Artists and Artisans in Kerby, Oregon is one of my personal favorites “Red + White Roses,” perfect for this summer show’s theme of Interdependence.

The roses are from my husband’s extensive rose garden in Arizona. The juxtaposition of the two roses were in an arrangement I had in the house. Their relationship fascinated me.

We all know that there are people who enjoy being visibly in the forefront, leading the team and there are those who would much rather be obscurely in the background in a support role. But do we remember how interdependent we are with one another’s weaknesses and strengths?

It takes different personalities and perspectives to have a healthy team, organization, community, nation. The key is to have respect for those who are different from you. Respect their strengths that may be very different from yours. Maybe even uncomfortable.

Like facets of a diamond, when we genuinely shine with who we are, all of our differences, our points of view, will make a beautiful and valuable asset to those around us and the space we occupy.

I’m really pleased to have 4 little paintings in this amazing show! A fawn from a friend’s yard, my “Secret Garden”, our former pet tortoise Otis who stayed with the new owners of our Arizona house, and a red rose (lol - imagine that!)
