What's in the hoop... Been awhile since I've posted, so here's something pretty for the first day of spring!!! A vintage top I thrifted and broke down for table runners. There were too many issues to get it in the frame as it was - including pieces fraying so bad they were barely attached... Just me doing my best to salvage at least part of someone's hard work!!!

What's waiting to be repurposed... Recently, but all at different times, I've found three necklaces with these odd pod shaped beads, today I finally identified what they are! These tough little "beads" / seed pods are known as Job's Tears, Job's Beads or Corn Beads, and have a naturally occuring hole perfect for beading. I just love finding second hand, natural items, stones, wood, and now Job's Tears to use in my earring designs! Have you heard of these beads before, am I just late to the party?? For those who don't know Job suffered incredible hardship, but refused to turn his back on God. I love that I can incorporate these in my work and will make sure to note their significance on the earring cards!!

Winding down the earrings as I'm close to being stocked for the year, I think 🤷. Kinda like the plan of "mass" producing one thing while I've got the supplies T hand, and then can stash them away. Toying with what will be next!

What's in the box... This weekend I spent the better part of it pulling some really old beads together and trying to make them usable. The laid out ones are just a sampling of what's in the box heading to retail this week. The photos really do not do them justice, just thought I'd share a few extra pictures instead of just the tease of the box!
If you find something you would like to send me, I'm actively searching inspiration pics! I'd like to have several hundred pair ready for the busy tourist season!

What's on my hand... Huh? Well fun fact if you're using temporary spray adhesive, be aware it may be temporary on fabric, but I've washed my hands in hot water 4 times with 2 different soaps - it is not so temporary on skin, and doesn't just peel off like wet glue! I hope you all had a great Christmas!! That is all, carry on!

What's on ME?!?... Thanksgiving (yesterday) was just an ordinary day as my girls had Thanksgiving with their significant other's families. This jacket was something I'd been wanting to do for a while, but just wasn't sure this was the fabric i wanted to use as filler, so it sat pinned on together until yesterday i just decided if i ended up not liking it, I could always put it up for sale. I was indeed happy with it, and wore it to work today!! This was easier than I expected, glad I've picked up more jackets to embellish!
I don't make a lot of things just for me, and believe it or not, this is my first ever jeans jacket! Excited to bring it along as we travel via train to see family in the not too distant future! I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra layer!
I'm also quite excited to be gathering the supplies for a travel friendly bring along project. Hint in photo in second photo...

What's on the loom... Remember the really old vintage fabric I brought home this summer. I used it for a mat on my floor loom, but just really didn't like how much handling the single strings and tension was involved for this delicate fabric. This week I had an inspiration - peg loom!! I had asked Dad to make really small pegs thinking yarn, but didn't like how that turned out. So here I am 7 or so years later using these tiny pegs with the vintage fabrics and loving the results!

This weekend I found this vintage comforter/quilt while thrifting. It may not look like much, but I'm in awe... Did I need it? Is it something I was looking for, No! It found me and the more I look at it the more I love it!
The cream/white fabric is very clearly feedsack - there is obvious lettering on it, especially on one block . As it stands right now, the batt is badly damaged/ shredded and many areas are cotton on cotton. The cotton on the other hand, including the stitching, is in incredibly awesome condition considering the age and the condition of the batt!!
I bought this not to use as is, but to attempt to repair and then use! I hope to very carefully remove the knotting, open one end remove old batt pieces, insert a new batt and then quilt it to help preserve it a little better. It's not a weekend project, to be sure!
Added bonus the proceeds from the quilt go to Jamaican Relief. If you are in the Goshen area, please consider thrifting at
JRM Store in Goshen. They have a great selection of just about everything! It's between Hacienda and the BMV in the old Everett's storefront. JRM stands for Jamaican Relief Ministries - their mission is so badly needed right now.

What's off the sewing machine... Well, with just one major error which was surprisingly easy to correct, I managed to finish this tonight!!

I started with a thrifted commercially made quilt (blue border), that does have individual pieces, not just printed patchwork, and made the outer layer. I then added another thrifted *printed* patchwork comforter for the lining and made this completely reversible.
I cut everything as 2X, but with the extra bulk from the comforter lining, I feel like it fits me more like an 1X or XL. I probably still need to come up with something with buttons for closure, *not* doing button holes - what do you think?

This was really a fun project, and I'll be cutting out another soon, maybe even tomorrow!!

I'm seeing these all over the place for pricing, anyone want to make suggestions?

Note: For some reason the photos are blurry for me unless I click on them.

What's in the works... I'm stepping out of my comfort zone! I'm loving that patchwork clothing has been trending again, I remember my own coat of many colors from the 70s. Since rugs are well stocked at retail, I'm trying something I have knowledge of (thanks Mom!) but not much experience with, garment construction, from a pattern!
It is my hope that this (commercially made) quilt will become this jacket from a 25 year old pattern! I won't cut into a handmade quilt till I'm more comfortable with the process.
Merging this project into a great relaxing getaway! Took a long weekend from work so I skipped town for a few days. I was hoping I'd be able to get a little bit of hiking in today, but it's not looking good rain & temperature wise, so Plan B seems like a great alternative!
Here goes nothing...

Something a little different I was working on this weekend... Many people inquire about clothing items at retail, but we don't offer anything, so made this to test the waters after seeing patchwork appearing at some major retailers... We'll see if it garners interest!!

What's on the loom... I finished the towel from last evening and broke into the vintage fabrics! They are much smaller strips than I usually work with but I love the diversity these smaller fabrics bring to the loom. This will be sold as a table topper / mat / runner with a disclaimer similar to the following paragraph. I'm just not comfortable that it would hold up long if used as a rug in a busy area.

Again these rolls of very vintage fabric came from a home which is thought to have been associated with the underground railroad. I'm not sure these are quite that old, but it's completely possible. The loom, one which I had made repairs to, was made sometime between the 1930s and 1950s so it's safer to assume that time range, although this could have been clothing and linens that existed long before and had been replaced. Oh, if only the story was a little clearer... 🤔
