A simple ottoman refresh. The existing foam reused, same tailoring, no frills, just clean new luscious navy velvet for a refresh. As my grandma Carol used to say on her upholstery shop cards "there's no job too small!"

Our team is Chicago‑bound to soak up the latest in the industry for design, innovation, and inspiration — and we can’t wait to bring that energy back to Anchor Stitch. We are excited to see what new textiles are rolling our from our material representatives at Mayer Fabrics, Schumacher, Thibaut, Kravet, Lee Jofa, and more!

We are so proud of upholstery apprentice Matt and his work on this gorgeous vibrant mid century modern inspired loveseat! He applied many of the skills he has learned in sewing, patterning, and more, and flexed his creative muscles with perfect pattern matching (this material was woven crooked - a nightmare for any seasoned upholsterer). He has come so far in the commitment to preserving the trade since he started this journey just 90 days ago and we couldn't be happier to have him in our crew!

This little beauty was found abandoned on the side of the road — gray, dried‑out wood, blown‑out springs, and fabric that had definitely seen better decades. It was headed for the landfill. The client took on the wood refinishing himself (and absolutely nailed it), and we brought the upholstery back to life with new support, fresh padding, and a clean, classic seat in a neutral faux mohair. Now it’s sturdy, smooth, and ready for another lifetime of rocking!

Guess who popped into the shop recently — Steve Tepe himself to teach me his pillow‑patterning and sewing tricks. It felt like stepping back into the old Tepe workshop for a minute, and my heart needed that. I spent countless time over the years standing at the same cutting table at Tepe Furniture watching him pattern thousands of pillows while we chatted about everything from furniture to his favorite talk shows.

We're brushing up our skills because we are adding something new! We’re taking our scrap upholstery materials and turning them into new eco‑friendly pillows and small goods that will be for sale at some exciting upcoming events. Less waste, more handmade creativity, and a whole lot of heart. Keep your eyes peeled — these pieces are going to be fun.

This gorgeous chair and ottoman is on it's way to The Farmhouse Stay in South Bend! Apprentice upholsterer Bee did a great job maintaining the status as the plaid master with this one!

Before and after of a headboard refresh!
Sometimes I'll leave my office to pick up the staple gun to upholster easier items like this.. but after taking half a day to finish it with some side eyed looks from Mike and Shop Ma, I'll leave this part to my expert crew that does this every day. I'll stick to running the business and sales! 😂 -Robin

Something out of our ordinary! Custom foam and velvet inserts created by our foam specialist Sam for this trophy being awarded to one exemplary student at Notre Dame School of Architecture.

The trophy was designed and created by AWS studio, the company who has moved into the old Tepe Furniture building! We love seeing and being a part of local projects such as this!
