“Lamy”
Acrylic and graphite on unstretched canvas.

Truth be told, I never measured it. I was in the moment and really didn’t care what size it was, but if I were a betting woman I’d say 18” x 60”. I’ll confirm when I return to the studio.

This was the first piece I fell in love with during my stay Jen Tough Gallery .
You know one of the pieces that just is easy.

I liked it so much, I titled it after my favorite little town in NM, Lamy.

It’s funny to think that was last week and now I’m sitting at a camp site painting in Yellowstone. Why can’t time slow down?

If you want to see this piece, visit me in the studio in July.. in the meantime Adrian and I continue to wander out west.

Happy Hump Day friends

One of the many acrylics on unstretched canvas I created during my residency at Jen Tough Gallery .

It is an entirely intuitive creation; I allowed it to lead me without any prior intentions. It was simply a process of play and contentment.

Since my residency at Château Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency , I have been painting on unstretched canvas stapled to the wall, and I absolutely adore it. Initially, I chose this method for the convenience of travel, but I’ve grown quite fond of it. When complete the artwork can be stretched, mounted, or simply hung with its fabulous raw edges, which I truly appreciate. Anything is possible!

Adrian and I have just arrived to Wyoming with the canvases rolled in the back seat. Tomorrow we visit Grand Teton National Park !
.and don’t forget friends, we have a pretty cool country here no matter the politics, it’s a stunner for sure.

As always, if you are interested in seeing this piece when I get back, reach out.

Fondly,
Paula

Last day in the studio at Jen Tough Gallery. I created a massive amount of work in a small amount of time. 5 large works, 3 small, and started a massive work.

The palette I worked in was different for me as well as some of the imagery. Looks like me, but doesn’t, you know what I mean. I’m am thoroughly satisfied, can you tell be my smile?

All good, in fact I’d say GREAT.
I’m rolling them up tonight and in the morning Adrian and are headed up to the Grand Teton National Park than Yellowstone National Park up to visit our beautiful boy in Idaho, through Glacier National Park and many more places..

The great American road trip awaits, really what could be better?
I’ll post the paintings as we travel.

Happy everything friends x

“Chamisa”
11 x 14” acrylic on canvas panel.

1st of my small works created during my residency in Santa Fe at the Jen Tough Gallery.

These small creations are made in the garden, away from the studio, allowing me to unwind while keeping both my hands and mind engaged. I regard them as my meditative pieces.
