Gutter guards are great… but they’re not a “set it and forget it” solution.
A lot of homeowners think installing gutter guards means they’ll never have to worry about their gutters again. The truth is, guards stop a lot of the big stuff (leaves, twigs, pine needles), but they don’t stop everything.
Fine debris, pollen, and dirt still work their way in over time. Once that builds up, it creates the perfect damp environment for moss and algae to grow. When moss takes hold, it can clog the openings in the guards and prevent water from flowing properly — leading to overflow, fascia damage, and foundation issues just like regular clogged gutters.
That’s why even protected gutters need to be checked (and cleaned when needed). A quick inspection catches problems early and keeps water moving the way it should.
