Ok people... you know when I show my face around here (which sadly isn't very often these days) we have exciting news to share. And it all starts TODAY...
I’m off to CHINA for a massive 17-day furniture sourcing trip jam packed with tradeshows, meetings + factory tours across multiple cities.
I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of direct manufacturing and importing for the last few years, and something finally clicked. I’m ready for the next step: building our OWN collection of furniture that we select, source + import directly for THE SHOP.
The “why” is pretty simple...
I am so sick and tired of furniture prices hitting the stratosphere. What used to be a retail price is now the wholesale price. I can’t tell you how many incredible pieces I pass on because by the time they reach retail, they’re just too damn expensive.
Everything at THE SHOP is hand selected by our team. We’re constantly looking for pieces that feel special, are well made + offer real value—and I want more options to do that.
Today, we buy from wholesale manufacturers who work with factories, import their collections, add their markup + sell to us. We then add the retail markup and sell to you.
By going directly to the source *where it makes sense*, we can eliminate one of those layers.
But this isn’t about finding the cheapest furniture. Quite the opposite. I’ll be meeting manufacturers, touring factories, looking at materials + construction, and personally selecting what’s worthy of coming home.
The goal: **more unique pieces + better pricing for our customers.**
So... off I go BY MYSELF to China on a 17-day, multi-city furniture adventure.
Oh, and did I mention I’m leaving ON my 21st wedding anniversary? 😂 My husband is a saint.
