I’d like to send a thank you card to my neighbors for throwing this gem out on the road.

It took 4 hours of sanding, new hardware, 4 coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in “Jenny’s Green” and 3 coats of Polycrylic Minwax.

This was a true labor of love (and it’s for sale)!

I’ve staged several homes in and and this charming city on the Chicago’s North Shore is known for its architecture and beautiful homes on the lake.

This condo was having trouble selling and even though it was in a unique, vintage building, it’s interior decor felt very dated.

I staged every room of this home (as well as a full repaint) and I think this living room turned out to be pretty cozy!

What are your thoughts?

It’s not every day that you get to stage a Five-time Emmy award winning television writer’s home.

This penthouse offers breathtaking views of which became my inspiration throughout this staging project.

The master bedroom had a large piece of art that didn’t appeal to the masses so I did my best to neutralize the room.

The lake made me think of a spa so I brought in colors that felt soothing and calm.

This was a memorable project for sure!

These beautiful changing leaves, especially the vibrant orange colors have taken me back to the day I first pulled up to Sur la Baie, the 35,000 sq ft sprawling mansion in .

When I got there, I thought “No wonder this hasn’t sold!”

Believe it or not, I actually spent as much time staging the exterior as I did the interior 43 rooms. The property was more or less abandoned of care and I knew that the gates leading up to this estate needed to make an impact statement.

Here is the other half of the living room at the Queen Anne Victorian in

Providing more seating and angling the furniture allowed for more of an uninterrupted flow and more ability to enjoy the fireplace.

This kitchen / living room combo was meant for entertaining but potential buyers disagreed.

They were confused and I so was I!

So, I fixed it.

Now there are three distinct functions and a nice open flow.

Thanks to for the great furniture pieces and for the perfect accent pillows.

As a side note, if I left the room vacant, the entertainment vibe would’ve still been missing.

As promised, some interior before & after pictures of Crain’s house of the day in May 2016!

The 3rd floor of this Victorian home was not being utilized properly. This particular room was very large but the furniture placement was disjointed and confusing.
🛋🤷‍♀️
Since most of the windows in the home faced south, I wanted to draw the eyes of the potential buyers towards the natural light, not deterred from it.
📖
This is now a cozy space to sit and read and can also be in inviting spot for overnight guests with this daybed nook. 😴
