As a firm that has been part of Northeast Wisconsin for generations, it's especially meaningful to see buildings we've helped shape become part of a community's historical narrative.

Four Berners Schober projects featured on Downtown De Pere, Inc.'s Historic Walking Tour date back to 1904, 1937, 1956, and 1963. Look for the Bank of De Pere, De Pere Public Library, and St. Norbert College's Frank J. Sensenbrenner and Victor McCormick Halls along the route. Their continued presence is a reminder of the lasting value of well-designed community spaces.

Preparing students for the skilled trades starts with creating spaces that reflect the environments they'll encounter in the workforce.

Lincoln Land Community College's renovated and expanded welding facility was designed to do exactly that, transforming existing instructional spaces into a modern training center that mirrors today's industrial workplaces.

The project includes a new welding lab with 36 student booths, expanded fabrication areas, upgraded utilities, advanced ventilation and air quality systems, and energy-efficient infrastructure. Select building systems were intentionally left exposed to serve as educational tools, allowing students across multiple skilled trades programs to observe professionally installed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems firsthand.

The new Waupaca Business Center is now open!

Located in the Waupaca Recreation Center, the welcoming space is designed to support entrepreneurs, remote workers, small businesses, job seekers, and local organizations. The Business Center features flexible coworking space, private office suites, meeting rooms, telehealth rooms, and a professional A/V studio, providing valuable resources to enhance connectivity, collaboration, and economic growth.

The project also included a new gymnasium addition, expanding recreational opportunities and enhancing the Recreation Center's ability to serve the growing needs of the community.

This addition was made possible through a combination of thoughtful planning, design, and strategic funding. Our grant administration consultant, Robert E. Lee & Associates, played a critical role in managing project funding, helping bring the community's vision to life.

We look forward to seeing how this new community hub supports residents, businesses, and innovators for years to come.

The complete renovation of UW-Madison's Psychology Lecture Hall inside Brogden Hall transformed an original 1964 classroom into a modern, student-centered learning space. This 394-seat lecture hall renovation included new finishes, seating, ceilings, HVAC, lighting, electrical systems, and state-of-the-art A/V technology. The result is a more comfortable, connected, and engaging experience for nearly 400 students.

Congratulations to Joe Dettlaff, PE, on his retirement from Berners Schober! After more than 42 years with our firm, Joe leaves behind a remarkable legacy of leadership and service. He was the first engineer to serve as president of Berners Schober and was in that role from 2008 to 2018. In recent years, Joe continued as Chairman of the Board while continuing to work closely with clients to develop thoughtful, effective HVAC solutions.

Joe's dedication to our employees, clients, and communities has left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. We are grateful for his contributions, his mentorship, and the countless relationships he built throughout his career.

Congratulations Joe on this well-earned milestone. We wish you all the best in this next chapter!
