Hancock County farmland is under pressure.

Some of that pressure comes from development. Some comes from investors. Some comes from the simple reality that land is expensive, and farming is hard.

There are many farmers still working this land every day, including corn and soybean farmers. They are part of our county’s agricultural history and economy.

But if we want more farmland to stay in farming, we also need more people supporting local food farms that sell directly to the community.

Meat, eggs, dairy, produce, flowers, fruit, and other farm products all give people a direct way to support working farmland close to home.

That is why we put together this guide to local farms in and around Hancock County.
