‼️ We still have a few spots open for this weekend's Queen Rearing class! Offered only once a year, this incredible full weekend course covers a number of topics taught by Dr. Jack Rath and Dr. David Peck.

Dr. David Peck had a great time with the Northeastern Kansas Beekeepers, co-teaching a queen rearing workshop with EAS Master beekeeper (and YouTube celebrity) David Burns Beekeeping. 40 attendees learned to use the Doolittle method to rear batches of new queens on-demand.

Why a Carniolan Queen? They are known for their gentle disposition, resistance to mite infection and their ability to rapidly control hive populations in response to nectar flows. Brood production increases rapidly in the spring in response to nectar flow. The brood production decreases rapidly at the end of the honey flow. These bees typically are very frugal with winter stores, successfully over wintering with lower honey consumption than Italian bees.

There's just over a week left to donate to Give Hunger the Boot! 🤝 Whether dropping off a donation while you're at our store, donating online, or at the upcoming Coin Drop, we hope you'll consider donating if you're able.

Give Hunger the Boot is a fundraiser for Comfort Food Community. The goal is to raise $30,000 to expand food access for those facing food insecurity throughout Washington, Warren, Saratoga, and Rensselaer Counties.

Funds raised will support CFC in a number of ways from providing fresh, nutritious food to individuals & families to helping sustain day-to-day operations.
