This Rochester kitchen went from heavy oak cabinetry and limited visual interest to a bright, functional space with a stunning statement island.

The original kitchen had good bones but felt dark and dated. Instead of tearing everything out, we focused on a strategic Kitchen Refresh that maximized the existing layout while completely transforming the look.

The perimeter cabinets were updated with Ash White doors and drawer fronts, instantly brightening the entire room. The island became the centerpiece of the kitchen with a bold Deep Sea Blue finish, creating contrast and adding visual depth.

Storage and functionality were improved throughout the space with thoughtful upgrades including a trash rollout, new hardware, panel ends, and cabinet box painting. A new hood feature, floating wood shelves, and a clean white tile backsplash helped modernize the cooking area while keeping the design warm and inviting.

One of the biggest visual changes was replacing the wall of heavy oak cabinetry with a lighter, more contemporary look that still provides plenty of storage.

The result is a kitchen that feels larger, brighter, and far more custom.

New Frosty White shaker-style doors and drawer fronts instantly brightened the room and gave the kitchen a timeless look. Updated Oil Rubbed Bronze Sunset hardware adds contrast and helps tie the entire design together.

The Kitchen Refresh portion of this project came in at approximately $12,260 and included:

One of the biggest advantages of a Kitchen Refresh is the ability to dramatically transform your kitchen without replacing the cabinet boxes.

In this project, the homeowners chose to keep their existing cabinetry structure and focus on updating the elements that make the biggest visual impact. The Refresh portion of the project included new cabinet doors, drawer fronts, panel ends, refrigerator panels, updated pull hardware, toe kicks, and cabinet box painting.

The perimeter cabinets were finished in Frosty White to brighten the overall space, while the island was refreshed in Battleship Gray to add contrast and create a strong focal point. In the adjoining bathroom, Gunmetal Gray cabinetry carried the updated look into another space while maintaining its own style.

The Refresh portion of the project came in at just over $9,000, delivering a dramatic transformation while keeping the existing cabinet structure in place.

Because of the savings compared to full cabinet replacement, the homeowners were able to invest in additional upgrades throughout the kitchen. The project also included new White Gold quartz countertops with a coordinating sink and a custom backsplash from the Glazzio Afrench Baroque Series in the Luxemburg Wind pattern, adding texture and visual interest to the design. This total came out under $18,000 and saved the homeowner thousands!

Altogether, the updates created a bright, modern kitchen while keeping the process efficient and cost-effective.
