Chunky the bunny and I enjoying the cicadas for a bit before bedtime. Chunky is one of the 50 wild bunnies that like to munch on my landscaping, but the only one that will let me hold him.

Just wanted to share how massive my tomato plants have gotten this year. It’s a few feet taller than me!

I’ve had a bunch of people asking about goat milk soap classes lately, so here’s the info all in one place:

In this class, you’ll learn how to make goat milk soap from scratch using real milk from the goats here on the farm. It’s hands-on, fun, and you’ll go home with your own custom batch (which cuts into about 8–10 bars once it’s cured). Since we’ll be working with lye, it’s not ideal for really young kids, but older kids with supervision are welcome.

Pricing:
$40 per batch (a full mold—about 8–10 bars)
+$5 for each additional person who wants to come observe or help without making their own batch

(a $70 value in soap alone)

Soap making is a two day process, so you can either leave with a batch I’ve made previously or come back the next day to cut and take home your own(:

Great for friend groups, homeschool crews, or just a fun afternoon doing something a little different.
Message me to schedule a class!

Figured I’d start this page off with a few introductions.

Like most of the names around here, hers came from pure randomness. I have a habit of using silly little insults like “boot licker,” and for a few days that’s what I was calling her. Eventually I started adding “moo” into everything, and somehow “boot licker” turned into Mootsy Boot Licker and it stuck.

Mootsy is a very silly girl. She likes to chase the goats for fun, stick her entire head between your legs, and give surprise face licks when you least expect it. She’s full of personality and keeps it interesting here on the farm.

Meet Mootsy ❤️

Hey y’all! I was honestly so surprised (in the best way) by how many people responded to my post about milking goats. The interest has been overwhelming (in a good way), so I decided to make this page!

This will be a place where I can share what’s going on here at Painted Prairie, whether it’s farm stand updates, soap or art classes, homeschool events, or just the little things happening around the farm.

If you want to come out and try milking a goat, join a milk share, take a class, or have an idea for something else, just message me. I’m excited to start sharing more of this little dream with all of you.
