Steinhagen Pottery

Brag alert! Our youngest daughter, Patricia, is an excellent artist in her own right. Check out her thoughts on AI v. human artistry in this short video! She has always had an astonishing knack for capturing the human figure. So glad that she's able to keep those juices flowing up where she lives in Boston.

I've been seeing video from Boston of the low-level chaos brought by the Tartan Army invasion - fans of Scotland's World Cup team, who have arrived in droves, clad in kilts and marching through the Fenway heavily armed with bagpipes. Seems like the perfect time to work on another Jacobite mug, based on images of an original found by a customer. Hopefully now the Scots won't hurt me lol.

Did you order an inkwell that was supposed to look like this? IF so please contact us - steinhagen7 AT aol.com, or 860-376-3329. We can bring it to Fort Loudoun, but for some reason your name and contact info didn't get recorded in our order book.

Attention! Attention! A person made an order with Steinhagen Pottery but did not list a name. This order is for an inkwell that this person is to pick up at Fort Loudoun Market Fair next weekend. Attached is a sketch of the inkwell. If you see this post, please make contact with them:

Yesterday's mail brough a packet of charming thank-you letters from a third grade class we visited back in April. Their teacher told us she sent us the unedited first drafts because they were "cuter". I think you'll agree!

"Thank you for letting us were the Colonial clothing and every thing."
"Thank you for letting us make butter. I could not get enough butter and crakers. They tasted better than processed butter from StopandShop. The pottery whell was relly cool I also liked the sping wheel."
"You guys are really nice. Thank you for letting us try stuff. Thank you!!!!!!"
"Thank you for the delicious Butter and crackers. But it did give me a stomach ake AKA I ate too much. I loved the spining wheel that was my favorite thing out of all and the potty was my 2 fav I loved everything. I really hope you come back soon and bring me clay (I was kidding. I hope you have a good day with clay and string."
"I'm so glad that you came to visit our school. I am sory I could not come I was sick! it was not fair but it sounded really fun. Hope you come again."
One of the letters specifically thanked us for waiving our usual stipend - we are both the products of Catholic schools, so we did this program at this parochial school as a way to give back. And after Erich read the letters aloud to me, he looked up and said, "That's our payment right there."

Our tally for Ukraine after Mt. Vernon's Rev War weekend: $310! We're down to just five pairs of candles and zero sunflower items! We can't thank our generous customers enough for their help in supporting our friend Albert Pavolv's Happy Child foundation. We'll restock in time for Fort Loudoun, and in the meantime, more kids get to enjoy a taste of adventure, nature and respite.

One of the things Erich enjoys most about what we do is the opportunity to mentor young folks. Our young friends Luca and Payton, pictured here, have hung out at our tent long enough over the past few years to be able to talk confidently to the public themselves about the potter's wheel and working with clay. They have both picked up so many skills, and we're eager to see where their enthusiasm takes them!
