That small hole in your favorite jeans or worn spot in a go-to tee doesn’t mean it’s done.

In this Visible Mending workshop, you’ll learn practical techniques for repairing both woven fabrics (like denim) and knit fabrics (like t-shirts and sweaters). We’ll review the interior patch method and then move into new approaches designed specifically for knits.

The goal is simple: extend the life of the clothes you already love, make them more beautiful, and keep them out of the landfill.

Even though so much of my time as an artist is spent working alone, I’m continually reminded how essential connection and collaboration are to my practice. This year, I had the privilege of working alongside so many thoughtful people and institutions through lectures, workshops, and markets.

First and always, I’m grateful for my customers—those who choose, in a fast-fashion world, to slow down, to value process, and to support handmade work. That choice means more than I can say.

Before fiber art, I was a graphic designer, where collaboration was simply part of the job—no room to be precious, lots of room to listen. I carried that mindset with me as I moved into textiles, and in 2025 it proved to be a gift. Each collaboration made my work—and my world—richer, deeper, and more expansive.

Here’s to learning from one another, making together, and stepping into 2026 with open hands and hearts.

Using modifiers to play with the pH of various dyes can help create a whole palette of colors from one plant. I was especially surprised with the delicate neutrals from the beech nuts hulls harvested from lawn. Do you have a favorite?
