🔎 WELL, LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!

There’s old… and then there’s “they just don’t make ’em like this anymore” old. 😍 Today we’re talking CAST IRON!

Long before nonstick coatings and lightweight cookware filled our kitchens, cast iron was the workhorse. By the 1800s and early 1900s, foundries across America were producing skillets, griddles, Dutch ovens, specialty pans and all sorts of wonderfully practical pieces designed to be used hard — and used for generations.

And then there’s Griswold. ❤️ Founded in Erie, Pennsylvania in the 1800s, Griswold became one of the best-known names in American cast-iron cookware. Today, collectors hunt for those familiar markings on the bottom because different logos, sizes and variations can help tell the story of when a piece was made.

But don’t overlook the unusual stuff! 👀 Those funny little round-cup pans are part of what makes old cast iron so interesting. Manufacturers produced specialty cookware for everything from muffins and cornbread to regional recipes — sometimes leaving us modern treasure hunters scratching our heads until we figure out exactly what Grandma was making in it. 😂

That’s what we love about antiques: you’re not just finding an object. You’re finding a little piece of how people once lived.

🔎 WELL, LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!

Some treasures were never meant to be fancy… they were just made so darn well that 100 years later, we’re still collecting them. 😍

These beautiful old Atlas jars caught our eye — especially those gorgeous aqua examples with their wire-bail closures. Once hardworking pantry staples, jars like these have become favorites for collectors, decorators, and anyone who thinks old glass just has a little more soul. 💙

And that’s half the fun of wandering The Vintage Market Antique Mall. You might walk in looking for absolutely nothing…and leave wondering how you ever lived without an antique fruit jar. 😂

🔎 WELL, LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!

✨ CARNIVAL GLASS! ✨

Now this is what happens when glass decides plain and ordinary simply will not do. 😂

That shimmering, rainbow-like finish is what makes vintage carnival glass so much fun to collect. Depending on the light and the angle, you’ll catch flashes of blue, purple, green, gold and everything in between. 🌈

And look at the details on these two beauties! 😍 From the grape-and-leaf pitcher to that wonderfully detailed scene on the plate, these are the kinds of pieces that make you stop in the aisle for a closer look.

That’s one of our favorite things about wandering The Vintage Market Antique Mall—you never quite know what one of our vendors has tucked onto a shelf.

🔎 WELL, LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!

Now THIS is the kind of thing that makes you stop and take a second look. 👀

Check out this old-fashioned pump oil can with that wonderfully long spout! Pieces like this were made for getting oil exactly where it needed to go on machinery, tools, farm equipment and other mechanical parts — back when maintenance involved an oil can instead of a warning light. 😂

And that patina? Don’t you dare polish it! 😍 The wear, darkened metal and years of use are exactly what give an old utilitarian piece like this its character.

Today, it’s just as cool sitting on a shelf with an industrial, farmhouse or garage collection as it was useful all those years ago.
