I haven't posted in a while, but I want to take a moment to introduce you to a great source I've found on etsy! This seller makes laser cut panels in a wide variety of styles, finishes and sizes. I was looking for something to put over a headboard in a tropical style, and these were perfect- AND only $39.00 for the set, in the size I ordered. This photo is not the room I did, but the same design. They are thin and light, and I put them up with Command Strips- no nails needed! So if you're looking for something fun and different, without spending a ton of money, check this etsy seller out! https://www.etsy.com/shop/EntWoodArt?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1349169217

Here's a fun quick "before and after" that cost less than $200! This is the guest room at my mom's condo in Florida. It was looking so old and tired, so I wanted to give it a quick refresh without spending a lot of money! I found the bedding online, and the pictures over the bed on etsy. The frames are from amazon, and they came with white mats, which I painted dark blue. I also took out all of the tired old accessories from the shelves, and we shopped for fun new things at thrift stores and goodwill, and painted them in coordinating colors, including that cute little lamp! I'm posting this to encourage you to think outside the box, sometimes it doesn't take a lot of money to get a whole new look!

Don't you just love before and after photos? Just had to do a quick post to thank Scott McCloud from Creative Organizing, right here in Grayslake! He always treats my clients like royalty! This particular closet has 9-foot ceilings, but my client is 5 ft tall. You will notice he put a space next to the door for her step ladder! He also designed her closet so that the items hanging on the rod were it within easy reach for her. If you have any storage needs, in any room of the house, he is your guy! Give him a call at 224-875-0575 and tell him Nancy sent you!

While I've loved many aspects of what I do, I think my favorite thing is accessorizing! I love putting the finishing touches on a room! I helped these clients with these custom built-ins for a home office. They wrap around the room and include two desks and other file space and shelving. These particular shelves are viewable from the front door so they asked me to purchase and place the appropriate accessories. Today when I was nearly finished she snapped my photo without my knowing. She just texted it to me and thanked me for my work. They are really pleased, and so am I!

We've all been more or less housebound for months now- and many of us have seen our need to be more organized with our possessions! So here's a shout out to one of my industry partners, Scott McLeod, who owns Creative Organizing locally here in Grayslake. I've lost count of how many jobs he's done for my clients at this point- dozens? But every single time, I hear back that he was fast, professional, that they love the system he designed and installed, and that they saved a BOATLOAD of money, when compared to the other storage options out there! Of course he does closets- but also pantries, laundry and mud room spaces, garages, basements- any place you have stuff, that needs to be organized! He just finished two more jobs for me recently, and I would be remiss not to bring his talents to light! Give him a call at 224-875-0575, and tell him Nancy sent you!

"Why use an interior designer" you ask? Lots of reasons! We know the best sources. We know what things should cost, and how to save you money. We know how to prevent mistakes, so that you'll love your choices for years to come. And when it comes to finding "just the right thing", like I did for a client today, it makes everybody happy! My client had decided to remodel her kitchen, and we had played it safe, with white cabinets, white/gray quartz, and white/gray back splash tile. But then she said, "I think I want a bit more pizzaz, and I've always loved blue- can you show me some options?" It took a bit of looking, but now we're settled on Cambria Parys quartz, which is a cool gray with iridescent blue flecks, which remind me of opals. And for the back splash we're using this gorgeous smoky blue 1x4 glass, which is frosted on the face, and reflective on the angled bevels. I promise pictures in the days to come! And in the mean time, if you're looking for something DIFFERENT, call a designer- call me! :)
