The Tempest :
Marking its world-staged premiere, Joseph Summer’s The Tempest brings Shakespeare’s final masterpiece to the operatic stage with vivid imagination and emotional depth. The opera—set to a libretto by the composer’s daughter, Eve Summer—transforms the tale of exile, forgiveness, and renewal into a richly layered musical world. Summer’s tonal yet adventurous score brims with ensemble writing, offering a contemporary voice deeply attuned to Shakespeare’s spirit.
Director Stefanos Koroneos reimagines Prospero as an exiled filmmaker clinging to a crumbling 1980s studio, where the island becomes a memory-scape of film, love, and trauma endlessly re-staged. The former audience risers transform into the island itself—an unstable terrain of platforms and elevations where characters grasp for power, freedom, and desire. Seated above, the audience occupies the eye of the camera: witness, director, and dreamer at once.
Cosi Fan Tutte:
Così fan tutte showcases humor, intrigue, and a touch of pathos. It continues our investigation of opera as a living form and is part of our ongoing commitment to reimagining operatic language. In this new production, directed by Cate Pisaroni and conducted by Abdiel Vázquez, the familiar tale is reimagined through a polyamorous and design-driven lens—a contemporary exploration of love as process rather than verdict.
Pisaroni transforms Mozart’s experiment in fidelity into an open, emotionally intelligent study of connection, self-construction, and fluid identity, set within a minimalist world inspired by Bauhaus geometry and Lars von Trier’s Dogville. The result is both a homage to Mozart’s wit and a bold re-examination of intimacy, transparency, and the human desire to design the boundaries of love.
