As a business owner, I usually share professional updates here, but today is International Overdose Awareness Day, and I want to take a moment to share something deeply personal. Some people already know our story, and some people don't.
On December 20th, 2022, one of the hardest days of our lives, my husband and I lost our daughter, Rachel, after a 10-year battle with addiction. We miss her deeply, and she is forever 28—she is our butterfly 🦋
Rachel left behind two incredible sons, Raylan and Colten. We see so much of Rachel's spirit in both of them. Even though we don't raise 13-year-old Raylan, we see him all the time and are always there for him. We have custody of Colten, who is 7 and soon to be 8.
In this photo, they are sitting by the bush we planted in her memory. Both boys bring an incredible amount of love and light into our lives every single day. Addiction is a brutal disease, and we need to break the silence and the stigma so more families can get help.
I share this to honor her memory and to let other families know they are not alone.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for support. Help is out there.
