Mother’s Day is beautiful. And for a lot of people, it’s also really hard. So today we just want to say — we see you. All of you.
The mamas who raised us. The ones who chose a child who needed them. The stepmoms and bonus mamas who loved kids that didn’t start out as theirs. The foster mamas who open their hearts and homes over and over again. The grandmothers holding everything together. The friends who show up like family.
The ones who are in the thick of it right now and haven’t slept in three days. We see you too.
The daughters and sons who are now the ones doing the caring — helping their mama through the hard days, loving her through the forgetting, showing up even when it breaks their heart a little.
And the ones whose arms ache today. The mamas missing a child — there is no loss like it, and we don’t pretend otherwise. The women who wanted this more than anything and are still waiting. The ones who lost their mom — last month or twenty years ago — and feel that empty space so deeply today. The moms estranged from their kids who carry that quietly. And the women mothering whoever needed someone to show up.
You are not forgotten. Not by us, and not by the people around you.
