There’s a certain art to making people feel welcome.

I’ve always believed that the most memorable gatherings aren’t necessarily the most elaborate. More often, it’s the thoughtful details that make people feel special.

A beautifully set table, something delicious to share, a thoughtfully designed floral centerpiece and an atmosphere that invites everyone to settle in and stay awhile.

With fall entertaining season upon us, I’ve been thinking about how much I love creating faux floral arrangements that bring beauty to these moments. Whether it’s an intimate brunch, a dinner with friends or a holiday gathering, flowers have a wonderful way of making an occasion feel just a little more special.

To me, that’s the beauty of thoughtful floral design. It’s not simply about what we place on the table, but how we want people to feel when they gather around it. 🤍

Who says autumn has to be all oranges, reds and golds?🪻

While I have a great appreciation for the rich, earthy hues we associate with autumn, I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of a less conventional seasonal palette.

For this arrangement, I wanted to explore a softer interpretation of fall, bringing together dusky lavender, muted plum and layers of sage green. The fullness of the hydrangeas creates a beautiful contrast against the architectural quality of the thistles, while delicate greenery introduces movement and texture.

It’s a combination that feels both romantic and a little unexpected, with just enough depth to complement the changing season.

With the holiday entertaining season just around the corner, I’m reminded that it’s often the smallest details that make a gathering feel truly special. A thoughtfully chosen floral arrangement can bring warmth, character and a sense of occasion to even the simplest moments.

After all, beautiful entertaining isn’t necessarily about grand gestures. It’s about creating an atmosphere where every detail feels considered, and everyone feels welcome.

And sometimes, that begins with a little unexpected color. 🤍

This one challenged me in the best possible way.

David and Amanda came to me with images of arrangements they liked, and then gave me the freedom to create my own unique version for them.

This piece pulled me outside of my comfort zone and invited me to play with shape, movement and composition in a way I might not have with a more traditional arrangement.

I had so much fun creating this piece, but I think what I love most is what it reminded me as a designer: some of the most interesting work happens when I’m willing to move beyond what feels familiar.

Thank you, David and Amanda, for trusting me to take a creative risk. I absolutely loved both the process as well as the destination in which it led me. 🤍

Turns out, there may actually be some psychology behind “romanticizing your life.”

Researchers call a similar practice “savoring,” intentionally noticing, appreciating and extending the positive experiences in our everyday lives.

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis published in Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being examined 20 randomized controlled trials involving 4,805 participants across diverse populations and cultures. The researchers found that savoring interventions had a significant, moderate overall effect on emotional well-being, including improvements in positive psychological states.

Perhaps romanticizing the everyday is simply a modern way of reminding ourselves to notice it.

Use the beautiful glassware on a Tuesday. Light the candles. Put flowers in the kitchen simply because you love having them there. Listen to music while you cook.

The moments may be fleeting, but the flowers don’t have to be.
