Started (and finished!) Work on 's Irish knit sweater.

It was a small hole on the back that was caught early, thank goodness! After raiding my box of white, cream, and eggshell yarns, I found the perfect match. A Little bit of and and this sweater is ready to go back to its owner!

I took a couple minutes to check the sweater over for other holes, but it was in really good shape.

Now on to the next project.

Working on together a this morning. It has a lovely hand, with a good portion of . My office is chilly so having a warm piece to work on is nice. This is the last piece I need to wrap up before the new year.

I love how working the mattress stitch, I get to watch every couple of inches how it zippers together. It's very satisfying.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Today is the last day of our , and the last day that I'll be sharing your .

Today features two Christmas ornaments, so each of our girls can hang one up on the last day. We have a little baby Jesus in their manger, and a Christmas tree made the same way I made our wreath, just with four levels stacked on top of each other.

days 19, 20, 21, and 22.

These four days perhaps represent some of my favorite ornaments from the whole collection.

Day 19 is the second of the two miniature Christmas stockings. If I make one for one girl I have to make one for the other!

Day 20 is represented by a sheep... Which has a dual meaning. Part of it was just because I like sheep, but also because it references Jesus as the Lamb of God. I thought, as the girls get older this could be a good conversation point.

Day 21 is another snowman, this one knitted using Shepherd's wool. I pulled the strand out of the yarn to make it light enough to work with. It's still nearly wrecked my hands knitting these was such a small gauge. It's the smallest knitting I've done since my hand surgery. I was planning to make this guy a hat, but I was done after making this scarf. It's probably the ornament I spent the most time on.

Day 22 is a pair of candy canes that made. He used a technique that he originally learned in . He took sweet gum branches, cleared the bark off, and then soaked them overnight in hot water until they became pliable enough that he could bend them into shape. Then he let them cool in that shape. I was the one who painted them. It was a team effort!

day 6 is one of the ornaments that I'm most proud of. This little Rudolph is a painted peg figurine, with antlers and ears made out of wool felt. Pattern was inspired by a few different other peg people I saw online.

calendar day five is a felt gingerbread man.

Not much to share here. I cut the shape out of felted wool, did a simple embroidery chain stitch around the edge, then glued it to another piece of felt to close off the ends. Trimmed it up, and the way it went in the Advent calendar.

ornament day 4. I knew one of the things I wanted to do was make an advent angel. This little angel was my own creation, it's wings were based on Irish crochet leaf patterns, and the little dress is just a simple adaptation of a granny square done in the round. The halo is a gold acrylic paint marker.

day 3 is a holly leaf with berries. I created this by using yarn that I split from four strands into two strands. I like the effect the variegated yarn gives the crochet. The leaf is adapted from a couple of different lace patterns, using single crochet through the back loop. The berries are made using French knots.

day 2 is a accented by little blue beads. I decided to do several crochet snowflakes, because I love the look of them and the more traditional look of crochet ornaments.

I've been hard at work making an for our two daughters this year. It's been working on the snatched in between spare moments for the last month, and my plan is to share them each day.

The first day of Advent B pulled from the box a peg snowman. I got these wooden peg people for our homeschool unit on gnomes, but I had quite a few of them left. I've managed to get quite a bit of play out of them, turning them into different ornaments for the Advent calendar. I a tiny hat, which was supposed to be an ornament in its own right, but ended up being too small. I think it looks a hundred percent better on this snowman.
