Main Street Modern began as a spec condo in downtown Harbor Springs, but with a clear vision from our clients, it became something entirely their own.

Warm beige tones, clean lines, and smooth finishes create a calm foundation throughout the home. Rather than relying on bold architectural details, the design allows texture, proportion, and carefully chosen furnishings to bring warmth and interest to each space.

The final layer came from the homeowners themselves. Their art collection introduces color, depth, and personality throughout the condo, creating a home that feels collected, refined, and genuinely personal.

The result is a modern Harbor Springs retreat that feels peaceful, comfortable, and perfectly suited to downtown Northern Michigan living. You can see more of the Main Street Modern project on our website.

A beautiful home begins long before installation day.

At Cottage Company Interiors, our interior design process is built around thoughtful planning, careful selections, and a deep understanding of how our clients want their homes to feel and function. Every fabric, finish, fixture, color, and furnishing is considered as part of the larger story of the home.

Our Northern Michigan interior design team works with clients on new construction, whole home renovations, and custom residential interiors throughout Bay Harbor, Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Walloon Lake, Boyne City, and the surrounding region.

Whether you are building a waterfront home, updating a favorite cottage, or creating a home designed for generations of family memories, our goal is to make the process feel personal, cohesive, and beautifully considered from the very first selection to the final detail.

Every detail feels intentional. Every space feels like you. And somehow, the entire home comes together in a way that feels effortless.

This is what we love most about interior design. Taking a vision, learning how our clients want to live, and creating a home that feels beautiful, personal, and completely their own.

A little glimpse inside one of our latest Northern Michigan projects. 🤍

A great interior designer does not have to start with a completely blank slate.

Some of the most personal homes are created by thoughtfully incorporating the pieces you already love into a new design. In this downtown condominium, existing artwork, an antique dining table, and a distinctive light fixture became part of a fresh interior built around color, texture, and layered details.

Soft periwinkle blue creates a calm foundation, while navy and touches of red bring personality throughout the home. In the kitchen, warm wood, painted cabinetry, brass hardware, and contrasting stone surfaces create a space that feels collected rather than overly coordinated.

The result is a home that feels polished and cohesive while still holding onto the pieces that make it personal.

Beautiful design is not always about replacing everything. Sometimes it is about knowing what deserves to stay.

There is a new member of the Cottage Company team, and she is working herself to the bone. 💀

We are having so much fun being part of the SkeleTOUR this year. We love seeing Harbor Springs get into the Halloween spirit and watching our local businesses bring a little creativity, humor, and personality to their windows. It's one of those fun traditions that makes our small town feel like such a special community, and we are happy to join in!

Coastal Cliff House is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design can make a smaller home feel expansive, welcoming, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Designed as a lakefront guest house, this home was carefully planned to take full advantage of the water views while creating comfortable spaces for gathering, relaxing, and hosting with ease. From the bright kitchen and airy living spaces to the inviting porch and serene bedrooms, each room was designed to feel polished, functional, and easy to enjoy.

Layered textures, crisp architectural details, warm wood tones, and coastal inspired finishes give the home a relaxed elegance that feels perfectly suited to life by the water. Even with a compact footprint, this home lives beautifully large.

The result is a refined retreat that feels peaceful, personal, and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
