Good morning from Vintage And Lace,
Main Street politics really are not my thing. I own and operate three separate business and I have a good friendship and working career with many many people in the area. At the end of the day I do not care much about what “side” you are on and I may not agree with some things or view points but I don’t see that as any input to eliminate friendships or clientele.
Vintage and lace has been established for three years now and two of which have been on Main Street. I am not the greatest at promoting or social media (some of which is strictly available time) but since being a part of Main Street, the Hardy Advertising and promotion commission has played a big role. I occasionally get a shout out on social media but more than that I have customers in my store on the weekends that say “ we have never been to Hardy, we saw it online and thought we would check it out”
I have seen a comeback on Main Street, not to long ago, it was like a ghost town. Just in three short years over 10 new business have opened on our little strip! People from all over the country and world are visiting Hardy Arkansas!
The A and P has done a great job from my perspective at helping bring a world wide demographic to this area. We are a tourist destination, A and P has created and sponsored events to keep travelers and locals alike walking the strip.
I am very disappointed to hear that Friday morning an agenda to remove A and P is happening this evening. It is stated as an emergency clause so there is no discussion and no input from any one outside of the council. It is said to be in my best interest that A and P be eliminated. I have zero say, zero vote and zero explanation as to why A and P has to go and all future events and promotions be cancelled for Main Street.
Fall and Christmas are our last big pushes of the year, this sounds horrible for my business.
I will be at tonight’s city council meeting and I would like to invite and see as many people as possible to attend. This seems to be a very crucial moment for the future of Hardy.
