🎉THE STORE WILL BE OPEN LATER TONIGHT AND THE NEXT 2 DAYS🎉

I have decided to stay open until 5:30 possibly 6:00 tonight if people are coming in.
Tomorrow I will be here 1-6
And friday im going to change my hours to 1-6.

As the holidays get closer im going try to be open later more than one night a week.
Honestly not many come in after 5 on Thursdays anyway so im not sure if it will be worth it but I guess if it isnt then I will know for the future.

If you are someone who cant come in until after 5 then please use today and the next 2 days to show me its worth staying open later🙂

STORE WILL BE OPEN AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY!

I was really hoping to open back up tomorrow but i still have a bunch to do in the store and my youngest has his senior pictures tomorrow. I forget its October and the sun sets earlier 🤦‍♀️.

So I will see you guys Wednesday!

This was the perfect opportunity to move everything around in the main room and clean every inch of it. Even the walls got mopped down. And everything is moved around AGAIN 😄🤦‍♀️.

Thank god because that place works out perfect for what i have going on!!

I didn't realize how sad so many of you would be if I had to be done. So many people have reached out or stopped me when im out. Ill try to stick around here as long as I can!!

With that being said lets talk about the economy for a minute.
It sucks🤷‍♀️
I know money is getting tighter as the days go by😔 But PLEASE support the small businesses you love in anyway you can. I hate to say this but compliments do not pay the rent or utilities. If you cant afford to shop around please share about them as much as you can!! This goes for any small business. Restaurants, baked goods, pictures, clothing, shoes, flowers, coffee, ice cream, toys, hair, nails, movies, decor, etc. A lot of us are not a necessity to live so when money gets tight we feel it! People go searching for cheaper and Amazon becomes the go to for a lot stuff. I get it. I love finding the best deals! I already wore my shoes out i just got in june. I went back to bauers on Saturday and got another pair. I probably could have found some online on sale. BUT i want them to fit right because i wear them almost everyday and i have been buying shoes there since i was little and would get the free gum😄
Please try to keep it local as much as possible for your favorite places! I feel like Harlan could easily become a town of empty spaces again with how things are😔. That goes for any town too.

Anyway, im glad i dont have to go anywhere!!
I worked really hard the last year so to pack it all up and wait would have been horrible. Plus I would have gone crazy sitting around again 😄

UPDATE! We figured out a way for me to stay in the building!! Thank goodness because I love my little shop❤️

ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Rusty Rubbish, LLC the business itself NOT closing.
BUT I will be leaving my current location at the end of the year sadly.
Like I said before this building is old. The roof is not in good shape. This location was not meant to be a permanent location for this business. This was a starting point. This was a place offered to me to give me a chance to see what I could do with this buisiness and it has went better than I ever thought it would!

I have never expected Bill to put money into the building so I can stay. I knew going in it wasn't a new place. He gave me a chance that no one else who owns buildings would have ever gave me and I will always appreciate that.
We are hoping I can stay there until the end of the year🤞 get through the holiday months.
So now im trying to decide what the next thing is for this business.

As a lot of you know we are hoping to move to the country. When that time comes I will have my store at our place. Our youngest son graduates this year so after that we can start looking for our forever home. It will not be in Shelby county. My husband does not work here and has a long commute so we hope to find something closer for him. I will not be buying any places here or building anything here. there is no point for a couple more years.

Now as for renting a place. I can not do high rent. This is not a full time business for me. So paying a ton in rent and utilities is not going to work for me. If I have to pay a ton in rent then the stress comes and then whats the point.
So I have some ideas im throwing around. I have reached out to possibly rent a spot at another business. I have my basement garage and some ideas with that.
I will not use our personal account to stay in business either. What i make is what i can put back into the business. It will always stay that way.

There are 11 weeks left in 2026 so we will see if anything works out. Im not going to stress. It will work out as it should.

But again. RUSTY RUBBISH IS NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!!

There will not be any major discounts or anything going on right now.
And I will no longer be buying stuff from people until I have an idea of what I will be doing.
Watch Facebook for updates!! And correct the rumors as they start😄

I will miss this little building. It worked our perfectly. Ill miss that giant counter that was a perfect display for the holidays ❤️

REMINDER THE STORE IS CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW FOR REPAIRS!

Thank you for being patient! If you haven't been patient and you are upset about it, well im in an old building. Things happen🤷‍♀️. Im going to give my landlord the time he needs to fix stuff. He has a business to run too. The junk isnt going anywhere! Hopefully ill be up and running next week.

Here is my Pepsi box from my grandpa I decorate for every season and holiday but Halloween decorating isnt happening this year at home🫤.
Its 2 weeks away so there is no point now.
Hopefully i can get my house decorated for Christmas this year. I feel like I dont have enough time or energy to decorate home and store. But at least the store will be pretty🎄
