The first Friday night of fall is made for cocktails. Designing a nice bar can be simple and functional but What MUST be top shelf however is what you’re sipping from that bar.

Even better when what you’re sipping LITERALLY is all in the family.

FUN FACT #1: The I’m sipping is considered by Cigar Aficionado as the number one Rye Whiskey in the world and my brother John is one of the owners of the company and sits on the board of managers.

Fun Fact #2: is created and owned by my sister-in -law Tiffany and is a perfected pre-mixed, low-calorie cosmopolitan cocktail made from sweet potato vodka, white cranberry, Triple sec and lime.

Fun Fact #3: the 10-year aged bottle of Whistle Pig in the 5th picture I will not open until my nephew’s 21 birthday (he is 3-years old now) and the label on the bottle is from a barrel that was distilled at the WP farm on the day he was born. Looking forward to toasting him at 21 years old with his own whiskey that will have aged for 31 years by then.

Before & After of our recent kitchen renovation at Edgewater, NJ waterfront apartment condo.

We took down the wall that separated the kitchen and Living room and replaced it with a 9-foot island and pendant lights above. We also extended the cabinetry on the main kitchen wall so it spans the entire length of the kitchen wall that was unused kitchen space.

This opens the kitchen goes up to the spectacular view of Manhattan across the Hudson River. The “before” images are the ones shown as “new listing” we nabbed from the real estate listing on the apartment.

Finally had a chance to get back to my clients’ home in Berkeley Heights, NJ and get some good pictures of the kitchen we created a little over a year ago with the oven finally in place.

This was my favorite kitchen to date and believe it or not it is an IKEA kitchen.

The 10 -foot ceilings left a lot of height for storage and clients wanted cabinets to the ceiling and because there is so much storage in the tall cabinets and lower cabinets they wanted the upper cabinets high up for non daily-use storage.

Used IKEA base cabinets to create the credenza with a black granite waterfall countertop that also serves as the the divider to the basement staircase/buffet server for the matching round granite dining table.

In addition we used IKEA high pantry cabinets that top out at either 84” or 94” high and stacked 30” base cabinets on top of 84” tall cabinets to take the long row of entry hallway cabinets to the ceiling and staggered the upper cabinets to create lighted glass display cabinets in the entryway.

This was a dream kitchen complete with a massive seating island that can seat 8 people at a time.

I can’t wait for another client with this much space and desire for a kitchen like this.
