The Queen of Swing 🎺🌟
We remember Norma Miller as one of the great pioneers of the Lindy Hop dance movement. A firecracker onstage, she was an original member of the famed “Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers.” Not only was she an show-stopping dancer, but also an actress, comedian, and author.
Just like in this clip from “Hellzapoppin’” (1941), Norma Miller was often paired on stage and screen with her favorite dance partner, Billy Rickers- a legend of his own.
When the Great Depression began, Norma's family moved to an apartment that overlooked the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem... where she would eventually be discovered as a groundbreaking talent.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the return of our beloved Savoy Candle, inspired by the night life at the Savoy Ballroom. Soon to be back by popular demand...
