Our prayers are with everyone impacted by rising flood water.
UPDATE: The City of Harrison has mobilized emergency public safety operations in the city, shifting into immediate preventative safety protocols in advance of an expected flooding from the Whitewater River, which is expected to crest and affect parts of Harrison.
The City is working with Hamilton County EMA which is en route and has begun emergency broadcasting to cell phones in the affected areas. The EMA is advising residents in those areas to take necessary precautions, including in some cases, evacuation. The river is expected to crest around 4 a.m. and affect those in areas including parts of State Street, Campbell Road, Featherwood Drive, Flintstone Drive, Dare Road, Park Avenue and Walnut Road.
Residents should be alert and monitoring safety information from Hamilton EMA, which is available at AlertHC.com. Public safety officials from Harrison are also going door-to-door this evening to alert residents in person.
The City has set up an emergency operations command center to monitor, prepare, track and respond to the evolving projections. City officials also have increased staff presence at the Geroge Street Community Center at 300 George Street, which is open and available to anyone in need of shelter. The City’s designated emergency public information officer will reach out as further information becomes available throughout the evening.
