I am so lucky to be part of the Decorative Arts Council of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. This beautiful day was spent with my DAC friends on a field trip to the Cloisters, a branch of the metropolitan museum devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The Cloisters sits overlooking the Hudson River in Fort Tryon Park, an area so serene and magical it is hard to believe it's part of New York City.
The museum opened to the public in 1938. It features 3 gardens created created from historic documents, stained glass windows, illuminated manuscripts, metalwork, enamel, ivories and the famous Unicorn Tapestries.
Trips like this are so amazing and always remind me of how much I do not know!
If this was not enough, we ended the day at the Spanish Museum. I fell in love with the magnificent wall murals created by Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, depicting scenes from the provinces of Spain. Breathtaking!
