before → custom paneling, start to finish → details are the story

Chocolate & vanilla, finished. 🤎🤍

A deep brown paneled wall wrapping the bed like the back of a leather club chair. A bed frame in wood and wrapped leather. Dark walnut everywhere it counts. Bedding you sink into, throws you reach for, a chair by the window that gets used every single morning.

And then the things you can’t buy: vintage golf tags, small collected treasures that belong to this family and no one else. Hand-carved pulls on the closet doors. The kind of room that feels less like a bedroom and more like the best suite at a resort inn you’d fly back to.

Warm. Layered. Personal. Exactly the feeling we chased across a hundred inspiration images.

That’s the goal: look everywhere, build the details, and let the people who live there finish the story.

A room starts talking the second you walk in. The only question is what it says.

This one was dated and quiet. Four windows, flat walls, nothing to hold onto. So we gave it something to say.

Custom paneling, drawn to this room’s proportions. Every reveal placed on purpose. Every seam sanded, primed, and painted in a brown deep enough to swallow the light. It’s the kind of detail most people will never consciously notice and every single person will feel.

That’s the whole argument for millwork: architecture is what makes a room yours before a single piece of furniture arrives.

Details aren’t the finishing touch. They’re the foundation.

Chocolate & vanilla. 🤎

Before this was a room, it was a feeling, collected from a hundred places that had nothing to do with each other.

A staircase railing. The slouch of a well-worn leather chair. Zebra hide. A walnut library lit like a study in an old hotel. Shearling. Brass. Espresso. Cream.

None of these images are ours. That’s the point.

Inspiration doesn’t arrive on schedule and it rarely comes from where you’re looking. It comes from the corner of a photo, the color of a drink, the room you walked through once and never forgot. Exploring is not the warm-up to the work - it is the work.

We’re lucky to build in an industry this full of talent and generosity, where great design is everywhere and everyone is quietly teaching everyone else. Grateful for all of it.

Part 1 of 3. Wait until you see where this went. →

Every piece on these shelves started within a few miles of here.

Curating this pantry meant filling it with makers and small businesses we love, and every one of them has a story.

The hand-thrown bowls that took someone’s whole morning at the wheel. The plates pulled from a kiln at 2am because that’s when the firing finished. The vintage pieces someone drove three hours to to find.

Everything here came from someone who cared enough to make it well, then handed it over hoping it would bring a little beauty into your home.

When you shop small, you’re not buying a product, you’re funding a person’s whole life’s work. 🤍

Supporting local businesses, always.

Behind every room we finish is a whole network of women who made it happen.

The final chapter of our Tale of Two Witches is really a thank-you note. To the makers, the workroom, the millworkers, the stylists and to Andrea Carson Photography, whose lens made this space look exactly the way it feels to stand in it.

Dwell Done Well has been lucky to find like-minded women who roll up their sleeves, give the extra effort, and take real pride in the work. Women-owned businesses supporting women-owned businesses isn’t a hashtag around here. It’s the whole build.

So while we design beautiful spaces for the next generation, we’re proud to show them the strength of this one. 🖤

A tale of two witches, one dark and dramatic, one soft and sweet. 🖤🩷
Hunter Green climbs the wall like something out of a storybook, moody and a little mysterious. Rose Rococo answers back, softening every corner it touches.
On their own, they’re opposites. Together, they’re the whole story, one enchanted little girl’s room, with a swing right in the middle of it.
Good and wicked, beautifully balanced. ✨

Mood board magic. ✨

When your client is six, it means listening harder and getting every detail right.

This one came together around her favorite palette - Rose Rococo and Hunter Green, pulled from a dress that makes her feel like a princess and bedding so soft it had to make the cut.
The reveal is next. 🪄

Once upon a time, there were two colors. 🖤🩷

One deep and a little bit wicked. One soft and impossibly sweet. Neither one would back down.

So we let them share a room.
