This nursery called for a shade that was cordless for safety and blackout lined so the baby could sleep. We used a fun woodland print from Spoonflower and reverse mounted it. This means the shade hangs of the back of the mountboard. This keeps the fabric closer to the glass and minimizes the light gap at the edges.

I love an Imperial Valance! They are so flexible. We can decide how many "flat" sections to have and change their width to accommodate several different window sizes in the same room.
This one has some nice detailing with contrast lining in the horns and cascades, and contrast micro-welt at the hem.

Elegant stationary panels add the finishing touch to this open plan living room. Not pictured are matching panels on a triple window in the dining area to the right of the fireplace which tie the whole room together. The sheer fabric ( which we lined) add a punch of color without being overwhelming.

A picture may paint a thousand words, but my photography skills don't do justice to this elegant bedroom. The drapery fabric is an open weave with silver threads running through. The hardware has a chrome finish with a subtly textured finial.

Decisions, decisions!
When pleating up patterned fabric for a drapery panel or valance, you can often get a very different look depending the size and number of pleats you use and whether you start pleating right on the edge of the fabric , or move in an inch or two.
That was the case with this embroidered fabric. We take the time to pin it a couple of different ways to see how it will look. Sometimes it is obvious which way we should proceed, but often we will send pictures to the client to let them decide.
Which one do you prefer? The designer chose the second option for a more organic look.

It can be jarring to the eye when windows don't line up in a room! This is particularly common in rooms with high ceilings and sliding doors. With the magic of a well placed valance, we can align the tops of the windows for a more pleasing look.
The panels have a box pleated heading to mimic the box pleated valance.

Sometimes the window treatment wants to be the star of the show, but when a room boasts beautiful antique furniture and artwork, the drapery can provide more of a supporting role. These euro pleated ivory panels with a subtle woven pattern frame the windows and add softness without overwhelming the room.

At Windows by Liz we love repeat clients! Many years ago, we made panels for this window from a silk plaid in harvest tones. It was so long ago, I can't even find the before picture! When the kitchen was renovated it was time to refresh the draperies with this beautiful embroidered fabric for the dining nook.
