In Loving Memory of Virgil Naggatz

On Sunday, we lost a very special part of our Hastings Antique Mall family.

Virgil had been a vendor here for nearly 9 years, and for the past 7 years he also worked our checkout on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For so many of us, seeing Virgil behind that register was just part of coming to the mall.

Virgil loved being here. He loved visiting with the vendors, talking with customers, and just being around people. You could usually find him behind the register, opening a booth for a customer, or helping his wife, Deb, organize their booth.

He had a real love for old things, especially old pictures, primitives, and Indian artifacts. He enjoyed finding those special pieces and sharing that interest with the people around him.

Over the years, Virgil became more than just a vendor or an employee. He became a friend and someone we were used to seeing every week. His absence is going to be felt around here.

It will be strange not seeing him sitting at the register on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It will be strange not seeing him walking around the mall, visiting with everyone or helping Deb in their booth.

We are going to miss his conversations, his stories, his smile, and just having Virgil here.

We are thankful for the nearly 9 years we got to spend with him and for all the memories he left with us.

Our thoughts are with Deb and everyone who loved Virgil.

Rest easy, Virgil.

You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.
