Have a nice sunny day… getting some wool washing and spinning done! The first batch of my Grey Lincolnshire from the local farm stand is drying in the sun! This was the first of my suint washes from this year, and I can’t wait to see what this looks like after being combed and spun up! Those grays are amazing! There was a little bit of dirt still on it when I wrung the wool out in a towel… so I have to see what I need to change for the next wash… I also have 1/2LB of white wool two ply woolen yarn drying out there. Its from a commercial carded sliver (21D) from RH Lindsey down in Boston. A little bit of VM in the mix, but I am finally getting over my fear of “ruining” wool that I am working with. I like getting outside a little more with washing the wool… gave me a chance to notice a little cabbage moth in the lavender… the lilies in the garden… and the tiniest little milkweed seed pods starting to come in. There were some monarchs around the yard, but I didn’t get to catch on in a picture.

Day 14 of the 1st Fermented Suint Bath of the season… I have one more week to go! This is a picture of me following directions and leaving it alone! lol Some pics from around the yard… the nice thing about doing all the wool washing over the past few days is that I have had time to really notice all the plants and flowers in the yard, get to know some of the birds and other critters out here. I have been really working on making tweaks to my wool washing procedure… and combing and ungodly ammount of wool… for example… taking this horribly cotted (last step before felted mess) hunk of Gotland/Borderleister cross and turning it in to 1) True Worsted prep, 2) Woolen Prep, 3) “waste” wool… the waste will likely be turned into dryer balls! Stay tuned!

Edit: Of course, also watching the dogs while my housemates are away!
