Remnants of August

Remnants of August Hand-crafted, painted or upcycled creations made from remnants of fabric, wood, metal or vintage finds and other discovered items from nature Why August?

After a project in our yard that involved cutting a fence panel in half, I was left with some fence remnants that were in need to re-purposing... it certainly wasn't going out in the trash! That was when I created my first painted sign for our home, and then I began giving them as gifts. This is a typical story, which often repeats itself with many other crafts, like painted canvases, scrappy tut

us, and so on. Together with my passion for giving things new life and giving personal, handmade gifts, I decided to create Remnants of August. Growing up, my family always vacationed along the coast of Maine during the month of August up until the beginning of the next school year. The month was filled with warm days collecting shells and driftwood along the shore, crafting in the cottage and with hopes that the summer would not end. The name Remnants of August collectively celebrates that very love of crafting in the cottage, holding onto and celebrating youth, and creating unique pieces from scraps or items that are found. Take a moment and look at my creations that have been posted on this page... some pieces are made of fabric remnants, scrap wood or up-cycled pieces that I have come across.
