A little refresh around here.

Revealing our new logo, designed by my dear friend and incredibly talented Danielle Palencar

In what feels like another life, Danielle and I worked together — me as a buyer and her as a talented artist/designer turned Creative Director for Terrain. When I started Hendren House, I knew exactly who I wanted to turn to for our original logo. Danielle understood the vision from the very beginning, and she nailed it.

As Hendren House has grown and evolved over the past six and a half years, it felt like the right time for our branding to grow with us. I wanted this new mark to feel a little more collected and reflective of the interiors we create today. We design interiors that are rooted in tradition, inspired by nature, and never too precious.

Danielle took elements of our original identity and gave them a new life: something that feels timeless yet fun, slightly nostalgic, and distinctly us.

It’s funny how something as small as a logo can represent so much. What started as me, an idea, and a love of creating beautiful homes has grown into a studio, a team, a shop, and more projects and relationships than I could have imagined.

Same Hendren House. Just a little more grown up.

This weekend, our home will be featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper and this one feels especially meaningful.

Having the opportunity to share my own home as part of my portfolio is one of the greatest joys to come from building Hendren House. I’ve poured so much love into this house over the years, and it has become such a true reflection of my personal design style: collected, layered, a little imperfect, and always evolving right along with our family.

As a born-and-raised Philadelphia kid (GO BIRDS 🦅), seeing our home in the pages of the Philadelphia Inquirer feels particularly special. I grew up with the newspaper woven into our family life—whether it was landing in our driveway every Sunday, my mom picking it up from T & F (if you’re from Roxborough, you know), or my Nana working on the crossword every time we went over for a visit. It was a true part of our Philly/Delco family dynamic. My father has probably saved every clipping about himself that’s ever appeared in the Inquirer, but that’s a story for another day.

Needless to say, there’s still something so nostalgic and special about opening a real newspaper, unfolding the pages, and discovering the stories inside. It takes a little more effort than scrolling past headlines on a screen, and I love that. The fact that our home—and this little business I’ve built—will now be one of those stories feels pretty surreal.

Thank you for following along, supporting Hendren House, and giving me the opportunity to share what I love with all of you.

Pick up the The Philadelphia Inquirer this Sunday or head to the link in our bio to see the feature. I know I’ll be saving a copy, just like my dad.

Slowly coming out of our summer haze over here. ☀️

It’s been a fun summer but a long one, and quite honestly, a challenging one at times. I’ve felt a constant tug between several worlds: wanting to embrace the sunshine, slower days, and the idea of summer relaxation, while also making sure our kids, clients, projects, and business are all getting what they need. Never really being able to fully turn any one of those things off.

Summer always seems to move at its own pace around here. A little less structure, a lot more juggling, vacations squeezed in, projects moving forward behind the scenes and somehow September arrives before we’re quite ready for it.

We’ve been a little quieter on Instagram lately, and the truth is, we just couldn’t squeeze one more thing in. Sometimes something has to give. But as we head into fall, we’re excited to be back here more regularly sharing what we’ve been working on, bringing you along for what’s ahead, and hopefully keeping you inspired along the way.

Starting with this special project. 🤍

We took a small, closed-off kitchen and dining room and reimagined them into a more open floor plan that truly works for this family. The goal was to make the spaces feel connected and layered without feeling too coordinated or “matchy-matchy” allowing each room to still have its own identity within the larger open plan.

This one was special for a lot of reasons, but mostly because our clients trusted us, relied on us, and saw the vision. That kind of trust is what allows a project to become what it’s meant to be. And getting to work with Mcgonigle Builders again was an added bonus.

So, we’re back. Back to routines, back to the studio, and back to a very full season of designing beautiful homes.

Simple reminder to myself that these smiles are the reason for the season. Summer isn’t all beaches and ice cream for grown ups… but it should be for these wonderful little humans.

Introducing The Paddock Revival project.

A new kitchen.
A reimagined dining space.
Two new second-floor bathrooms.
And somewhere along the way, an entirely different way of living in the home.

These are the projects we love most, because thoughtful renovations have a way of making a house finally work for the people inside it.

Swipe for floral wallpaper (that set the whole mood), beautiful cabinetry, unlacquered brass, vintage touches, and so much more.

Love, love, love the way this mudroom came together. Even better than the end results look: our client had one look at the design boards and samples and said yes right away! When a client trust the process and the end results turn out this good… there’s no better reward.

We are currently booking clients for September 2026. Reach out now to learn more about the design process.
