Over the last 15 years, our family has moved to a lot of different little, fixer upper homes. With a lot of paint, elbow grease, and personal touches, we have made each of these houses 'home'. I would like to take my experience and creativity into your home if you'd like some help creating that homey, classy space for your family! I specialize in home decor, small furniture, and interior design...on a budget.

Our Story

Welcome to MyCountryHeart. What you find on here is my therapy- my creative outlet. It's what I love to do when I get home from my real job (which I also thankfully love- working with students!) Growing up, I watched my mom transform thrift store finds into homey decor for our old log cabin where my parents raised me and my sister and six brothers. My dad was (and still is) a furniture maker and home builder, and my brothers have acquired his skills, and now have businesses of their own. When my husband and I and our kids moved from one fixer-upper to another in the US and Mexico (as missionaries), I naturally combined my experiences with paint and wood to decorate our homes, and found that it is something that I truly love! This is my creative outlet.

I never thought that I would do this as a side business, but it's funny how opportunities present themselves. A few years ago, friends started requesting pieces, encouraging me to start a business. I was afraid that doing it as a business would take the fun out of it...but I was wrong! Being in my woodshop is something I just can't get enough of- even in the middle of Wisconsin winters!

Please look around, and let me know if you have any questions! Everything is made right in our home- from sanding the rough-sawn pine (done by my teenagers) which is brought from a local mill (by my husband), to the cutting, staining/painting, assembling, and handpainting the lettering. Even our state cutouts are local- cut out by students and purchased from our local Middle School Tech-Ed department. My woodworking has pretty much overtaken every nook and cranny of our house and garage...my husband is a patient man! What you see is the product of a family effort. Whatever you bring into your home, or gift a loved one, is made with love and detail to attention.

As a result of everything being made piece by piece, we are able to customize! If you have an idea, contact me with your thoughts! If you like what you see, but want to customize the color, let me know! Some of us may enjoy creating beauty, and some may not find it enjoyable. But I believe that we all appreciate beauty. All of our product is made 100% in our home, by our family, so when you bring our art into your home, we can truly say that it is from our home to yours! Have a beauty-full day, and enjoy browsing!
