🚨 COULD THIS BE THE NEXT BIG VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE? 🚨
If you’ve never heard of an antique flower frog, you’re probably not alone. Collectors have been hunting these unusual pieces for more than a century... and lately, I’ve noticed something interesting.
More people are asking about them.
A LOT more.
Yesterday alone, we sold over $400 worth to one collector, and over the last few weeks I’ve had several people stop and ask:
“What ARE those?”
Well... meet the flower frog. 👀
Before florists had modern floral foam, flower frogs were placed inside bowls and vases to hold flower stems in place. They were made from glass, metal, pottery and porcelain.
But somewhere along the way, manufacturers decided a simple flower holder wasn't interesting enough.
So they started making these.
Art Deco ladies.
Dancers.
Nudes.
Bathing beauties.
Children.
Animals.
Beautiful colored glass figures.
Some are elegant. Some are bizarre. Some are risqué.
Today there are collectors hunting specific makers, colors, poses and rare variations.
The Art Deco and "naked lady" figural frogs from the 1920s and 1930s are some of my favorites. Put several together and suddenly you realize just how many different designs were produced.
And here's what I find interesting:
Every collectible seems to have that moment when people suddenly discover it.
Pyrex had it.
Uranium glass had it.
Vintage Christmas had it.
Hens on Nest, Fairy Lamps, ect....
Collectors are ALWAYS asking:
“What's the next thing?”
I'm certainly not predicting the future...
But antique flower frogs might be worth paying attention to. 👀
They're old.
They're unusual.
They're displayable.
There are hundreds of varieties to hunt.
And many can still be found without spending a fortune.
That's a pretty good recipe for a collecting obsession.
So I'm curious...
👇 Did you know what a flower frog was BEFORE seeing this post?
And for the collectors already down this rabbit hole:
SHOW ME YOUR FAVORITE FROG! 🐸🌸
Let's see how many different ones we can get in the comments.
And if this post just introduced you to something you're now going to spend the next six months hunting...
You're welcome. 😂
