Objects of Illumination. ✨

Some fixtures are made to illuminate a room. Others deserve the spotlight.

Finding the right lighting is an art in itself. Scale, proportion, placement, material, and the delicate balance between making a statement and complementing a space. It’s a nuanced part of the design process, and one that Hope has mastered.

From sculptural silhouettes and unexpected materials to dramatic statements and quieter moments of brilliance, we’re revisiting some of our favorite lighting selections from Hughen House projects over the years.

Because the best lighting doesn’t just change how a room looks. It changes how a room feels.

Some rooms are made for conversation. Others are made for cocktails that turn into conversation.

This one happens to do both.

Quiet room. Restless art.

Phillip Michaels’ layered, intuitive brushwork brings movement and energy to a bedroom built around softer things—linen, woven texture, warm wood and brass.

It’s the details that keep a quiet room from being a boring one.

Glossy, imperfect tile from Earth Elements gives the walls movement and catches the light differently throughout the day. Sculptural Arteriors sconces break up all those clean lines with something softer—and a little unexpected.

Add the warmth of natural wood, aged brass and crisp Hansgrohe plumbing, and suddenly a very restrained palette has a whole lot to say.

Some materials make you look twice. This one makes you ask questions.

The light in Coming Back for More is grown—not manufactured. MushLume uses living mycelium, the root-like network of fungi, to bind h**p fibers together as they grow into form. The result is a shade with an organic texture, subtle variation and a story almost as interesting as the object itself.

Part lighting, part biology, part sculpture—and proof that some of the most interesting ideas in design are already being perfected by nature.

Knowing when to repeat yourself.

Green velvet at the table. Warm wood carried through the kitchen. Soft curves against the clean geometry of the architecture. At Coming Back for More, the details change, but the language stays consistent.

It’s the kind of restraint that makes a space feel effortless—even when every relationship has been considered.

The best collaborations create something you couldn’t have imagined alone.

Par & Palette was shaped by the creative exchange between Hughen House and Flair Hunter—two design perspectives playing off one another, pushing ideas further, and knowing when to let the other run with one.

Add a client with a whole lot of trust and a willingness to leave room for imagination, and the process became as layered and unexpected as the home itself.

There’s a little tension. A lot of personality. Moments that surprise you and others that somehow feel inevitable. The kind of project where creativity was given room to roam—and the finished home is entirely its own.

Hughen House x Flair Hunter. Par & Palette.
A very special one.

Sometimes the best rooms start with the thing that doesn’t quite belong.

For this guest suite at Par & Palette, it was a funky Captain Crunch painting the client already owned — playful, nostalgic, a little unexpected, and ultimately the starting point for the entire room.

We pulled from its deep blues and rusty oranges, then quieted everything down with warm neutrals, natural texture and clean lines. The result feels grown-up without taking itself too seriously — and proof that great design doesn’t always start with a blank slate. Sometimes it starts with Captain Crunch.

A refresh, not a reinvention.

Ridge Haus is proof that thoughtful design can work within the walls—and the budget—you already have. We focused on the changes that would have the greatest impact, giving this older Park City condo an entirely new energy without taking everything back to the studs.

Simple. Considered. And completely refreshed.
