The grandmother I never met. My dad lost her when he was very young, he also lost his younger brother on a run-over accident. My dad only has 2 pictures of my grandmother, this picture was the only picture that was hanging in the house of her back in Panama. Before moving to USA on a rush I had no time to make copies, but I wanted to take the only picture that allowed me to get to know her, with me. This was the first time I discovered pointillisim. Pointillism allowed me to bring an important copy of the only picture we had of my grandma. I never met her, but I was able to learn every line, every shade, the proportion of her lips, her hair type and curls. I got to know her more with every dot I added to the paper.

I love pencil and charcoal. I like how an eraser gives light to a drawing. I made this art in 2006 for an art contest in Cheyenne WY.

When you create art, do not think like an adult. We adults limit ourselves because of the voices that talk to us about perfection, expectations, bills, criticism, self doubt.

Be a kid again, feel, laugh, smile, enjoy, liberate the colors, rythms and textures. Imagine, create and design your own world just like kids do. Free your inner child when creating.
