This week's featured local artist is Karla Deal!
Karla has a unique way of manipulating metals and copper to create works of art with an abstract painterly quality. Based in Nashville, Karla began her copper journey by creating art pieces with a Music City theme – aged copper guitars, banjos, and musical notes. Her art was recently recognized by the Governor’s wife, who asked Karla to create custom ornaments for the Christmas tree at the Governor’s mansion for their annual holiday open house! As her skill and ideas for patina began to grow, Karla saw opportunities for other designs for her copper pieces such as themes of nature as seen on display in our gallery.

This week's featured local artist is Lynn Whipp of Lynnae Jewelry!
While Lynne calls Asheville home, her artistic roots began in the San Francisco Bay area, nestled on the redwood-adorned arms of Mt. Tamalpais with Old Mill Creek flowing in the valley below. Early on, she was drawn to the colorful rocks and shells she found in the nearby blue-green ocean waters. Her father, a landscape painter and color expert for a printing company, loved to talk about intricacies of color and perspective, and Lynn took this all in. When she eventually retired from teaching, her passion for creating beautiful jewelry emerged. Lynn enrolled in wire-wrapping and metalsmith classes, and in 2006, she founded Lynnae Jewelry, which became known for its varied and creative designs.
