I had fun creating this creepy effect on my journal "Haunted Reflection" using Decoupage Queen rice paper DQRP0901. The skeletal steampunk gentleman peers at you from behind the mirror. The misty gate on the back cover makes you wonder who is hiding behind there.
I used Pentart cracking plaster highlighted with Dekor chalky paint to add texture and depth to the front and back covers.

Here is another one of my new journals, "Gothic Memories" that uses one of the new Decoupage Queen rice papers, Moody Scenes I, . I was able to tear the paper to split the image for the front and back cover. I colorized the background with multiple Pentart translucent lasur stains. Then stenciled a harlequin pattern using Pentart's metallic pigment powder mixed with heavy body gel for texture.

These are all the great Pentart products that I used to create this Halloween journal cover "Silent Visitor" in addition to the Decoupage Queen rice papers, DQRP0901 and DQRP0907. These items work so well to create texture and rich color tones. They definitely make crafting fun again.

I really like to use decoupage rice papers as a background to my focal point. These Halloween journals are so fun to make.
To apply the rice paper, I first spray the back of the decoupage paper with a light coat of repositionable adhesive spray to get the paper into position. Then, I lift half of the paper to apply the decoupage glue to the surface. I then cover the paper with a piece of plastic sheeting and smooth out the paper by hand. I repeat with the other half. Then I use a brayer to roll over the paper to push out excess glue. (Too much moisture is what causes wrinkles). I then let it dry completely before applying a topcoat of decoupage varnish.
Hope this is not too much information. I like people to have fun with crafting and not be frustrated with the process.

Thought I would share this journal that I finished for the Halloween season. I really enjoyed working with the new Decoupage Queen rice papers, DQRP901 and DRQP0907. The browns and rust colors gave the journal cover such rich tones.

You can create fabulous designs with Pentart's Metallic Pigment Powders and your favorite stencil. Just mix the powders with Pigment Fix to make your own metallic stencil medium. You can even mix powders to create custom colors. Such Fun!!!

I wanted to share this short how-to video with you. I used a combination of Oak and Olive Pentart Lasur Gels to create a richly colored journal cover that accentuated the focal image on the front cover. Let me know wht you think of this color combination.

Such an amazing finish you can make with just one tool and one medium. Apply Pentart's Heavy Body Gel in glossy thru a stencil onto a matte background. Quick and easy with a dramatic effect.
