One of the most common phone calls we get goes something like this:

"How much would it cost to frame my piece?"

And honestly… I wish there was an easy answer 😅

The reason we don't give quotes over the phone isn't because we're trying to be difficult. It's because custom framing is exactly that... custom.

As you can see from this photo, we have a LOT of frame options. Some are budget-friendly. Others are definitely in the "special occasion" category. And that's just the frames.

Then we have glazing (that's the fancy framing word for the glass or acrylic), which comes in several different options depending on your needs.

Then there are hundreds of mat choices.

And we haven't even talked about the size of your piece yet! A small photograph and a large poster may use many of the same materials, but the amount of those materials, and therefore the cost, can be very different.

And those are just the basics.

Trust me, there are even more options we could talk about, but I don't want to bore you with the nerdy framing stuff 😂

The good news?

You don't have to figure any of this out on your own!

Our job isn't to show you a million choices and send you on your way. Our job is to narrow those choices down, help you understand your options, and guide you toward a design that fits your artwork, your style, and your budget.

Because while there may be thousands of possible combinations...

The perfect one for your piece is usually much easier to find than you think. 😊 Just please, give yourself plenty of time. You don't want to feel rushed to make a decision.

We recommend that you stop into the store T-F 9-5 or Saturdays 9-2 with your artwork so we can properly assist you in designing the perfect look!

We recently finished this piece for a retired Chicago police officer, and honestly… sometimes simple designs end up making the biggest impact.

The overall frame design is clean and understated, but he absolutely went all out on the mats, and it was 100% the right choice.

Suede mats are amazing, and that hint of blue really pops underneath the black! It really complements the thin blue line theme perfectly!

And another fun part of this project? We printed the photo right here at the shop too 😄

Being able to print and frame pieces in-house has been so exciting because it allows us to help bring the entire project to life from start to finish.

And honestly, that’s what we love most about custom framing. Every project tells a different story, and getting to help preserve those stories in a meaningful way never gets old.

One of the coolest things about Hoosier Highlander is realizing just how much history exists within these walls.

This business has been around for 80 years… and in all that time, it’s only had 4 owners.

That’s pretty incredible when you really stop and think about it.

We’ve heard so many stories over the years about the second owners of the shop, so last week was really special for us. One of their sons stopped in and gave his mom a little virtual tour of the store through FaceTime so she could see how much has changed over the years.

She wasn’t able to come in herself, but honestly, technology came through for us on this one ❤️

It turned into such a wonderful conversation.

Hearing stories about the shop’s history, what it used to look like, and the people who helped shape it long before us was genuinely special. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day work sometimes, but moments like that remind us that we’re really just one chapter in a much bigger story.

And honestly? That’s an honor we don’t take lightly.

80 years.
4 owners.
Countless memories, projects, conversations, and stories.

And somehow… it all connects back to this little frame shop.

Happy Memorial Day ❤️🤍💙

Today is often filled with cookouts, long weekends, and the unofficial start of summer… but at its heart, Memorial Day is truly about remembering and honoring the men and women who lost their lives in service to our country.

This shadowbox was created to preserve and honor one serviceman’s legacy through the careful display of his folded American flag, challenge coins, and a letter of recognition from the President.

While we don’t know the full story behind this particular piece, projects like this are always handled with an extra level of care and respect. They represent sacrifice, service, family, and memories that deserve to be preserved.

Today, we extend our deepest gratitude and highest respect to all who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

We remember ❤️ 🇺🇸

Good news… this is the LAST time you’ll have to see this reminder 😂🎓

Today, Hoosier Highlander is closed so our family can celebrate Sammi’s graduation, and we honestly couldn’t be more proud of her.

All the hard work, dedication, late nights, early mornings, and everything in between finally led to this weekend, and it’s been really special getting to celebrate her accomplishments together ❤️

Thank you all for being patient with our many graduation reminders lately 😅 and for always supporting our small family business through all of life’s big moments.

We’ll be back to normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26 from 9–5 😊

One of my favorite things about repeat customers is getting to see the collections they build over time 😄

This client is a HUGE The Lord of the Rings fan, and over the years we’ve framed quite a few pieces for her collection. So, we already knew this was going to be a fun piece.

Now, I’ll be honest… I may not know every detail of Middle-earth lore, but I do know the swords in Lord of the Rings are never “just swords.” They all carry history, meaning, power, and entire storylines behind them.

And honestly? That’s part of what makes fandom pieces so interesting to frame.

To some people it’s just artwork.
To someone else, it represents a favorite character, a memorable scene, or a story they’ve loved for years.

That connection is what makes it special.

And seeing her collection slowly come together piece by piece over time has been really cool. Every framed item adds another layer to it and makes the whole space feel more personal.

Okay, Lord of the Rings fans… help me out 👀

What’s the most iconic item from the series?

We recently framed a pennant from the 1967 Expo and apparently it has become unexpectedly popular with the local kids 😂

Not because they’re super into vintage world exposition memorabilia…

But because every single time they see “67” on it, they immediately go:

“6…7 🫲👀🫱”

If you know, you know 😅

Meanwhile, the adults are over here appreciating the nostalgia, the history, and the fact that this piece has survived for decades without completely falling apart.

Older pieces always seem to spark conversations—sometimes meaningful ones… and sometimes memes from the internet that make the rest of us feel ancient 😂

Either way, this pennant deserved better than sitting tucked away somewhere.

Now it gets to be preserved, protected, and displayed where everyone can enjoy it… 😄

Graduation is this Saturday and honestly… we’re a little emotional over it 🎓🥹

It’s hard to believe how quickly this season came around, but we are SO excited to celebrate Sammi and everything she’s accomplished. Watching all the graduates reach this milestone after years of hard work is pretty special.

With that being said, this is your extra reminder that Hoosier Highlander will be closed this Saturday, May 23 so our family can celebrate together ❤️

Thank you all so much for understanding and for always supporting our small family business through all of life’s big moments.

We’ll be back Tuesday, May 26 with normal business hours. 😊

We recently framed a quilt that was incredibly special to one family.

Handmade by a relative years ago and passed down through generations…which can make things hard sometimes.

Because when something means *that* much… how do you decide who gets to keep it?

In this family’s case, they found a really beautiful solution.

Instead of letting it sit tucked away somewhere, the quilt was carefully divided so multiple family members could each have a piece of it to cherish and display in their own homes.

And while I know the idea of cutting a quilt apart might sound emotional at first, there was actually something really meaningful about it too.

Now, instead of one person holding onto all the memories… several people get to see a piece of their family history every day.

A reminder of the person who made it.
The hands that stitched it together.
And the love woven into every part of it.

Honestly, projects like this are a good reminder that framing isn’t always just about preserving “things.”

Sometimes it’s about preserving connection ❤️

Our family will be honoring and celebrating Sammi’s at her high school graduation ceremony! 🎓

We are so incredibly proud of Sammi and all of the hard work, dedication, and long hours she’s put in to reach this milestone. Watching her grow into the person she is today has been pretty amazing, and we’re excited to spend the day celebrating everything she’s accomplished.

As a small family business, moments like these mean a lot to us. So thank you for always supporting not just our shop, but our family too!

We’ll reopen Tuesday with normal business hours.
